Anyone interested in playing any of these games with me? After over 2 months of nonstop playing of Gothic 3, I might be interested in playing something different! smile

Any suggestions? Bloodlines? Oblivion? Indy? Redemption?

I played M&M 8 last time with the group. I wouldn't mind doing M&M 7 this time since I've never played it.

If you don't mind I'd like to join in. I started MM7 about a year ago but for some reason it didn't grab me like MM6 did. Maybe playing as a group will help. Pokey I can guarantee I play slower than you laugh

That's great, Syd! I love M&M6, too, but it's harder than 7. Not that 7 doesn't have its tough moments! Just let me know when you're ready to start.

Anybody else who wants to join in is welcome!

Anytime is fine with me - I have it loaded in just waiting for the word. I'm currently on Onderon right now helping the Mandalorians - but I'm sure they can do without me and my light sabre for a bit laugh

I'm going to start today. I've been playing Gothic 3 for the 2nd time, but the last crash & ruin of a save game made me want to throw it in the trash!

I go through M&M7 real fast, but I'll stick around as long as anyone's still playing it. Here's a good walkthrough:

Alrighty then - I'll start today also. Thanks for the link to the walkthrough - I bookmarked it. Now to figure out my group - last time I played I think I loused up because I kept getting killed by the dragonfiles - this is the game with the dragonflies right?

Oh, yeah, dragonflies galore! Once you get off the island, there won't be any more. I usually avoid them. I started this morning & just reached Harmondale.

I am going with a paladin, thief, cleric, sorcerer. I recommend water and air magic for the sorcerer, body magic for the cleric, and bow skill for everybody. You can buy bow skill on Emerald Island & it's cheaper there than on the mainland.

Well I'm still on Emerald Isle. We've just got our collective fannies kicked in the Temple of the Moon by those vampire bats - it was bad enough that it froze my computer and I had to re-boot [sigh]

I need to get the hat and the floor tile from in there and then I'm off to Harmondale. I'll make sure everyone has bow skills. I went with the standard Knight, Thief, Cleric, Sorcerer. I am the pits when it comes to making up a party so I just go with the "default" ones. I seem to be missing the Seeing eye thing so I'm going to tool around until I can find the spell.

I felt kind of bad about the dragonfiles - I started them coming and then ran into the inn for the night - when I came out there was quite the blood bath - dead bodies everywhere - both townies and flies eek Picked up a nice bit of change however laugh

I'll install and get started today. Any problems running it in XP? M&M 8 ran just fine.

So far it's not a problem Pokey - the only thing I had to do was drop the hardware acceleration on my video card down a notch or two -

Update - arrived in Harmondale and have just cleaned out my "manor" of all sorts of baddies. Talk about your "fixer upper" rolleyes Am now running around town visiting people and gathering quests - think I have four or five right now. I actually did have the seeing eye thingie (called the Wizard's Eye) - it would have helped if I had opened both pages of my sorcerer's spell book - geeez slapforehead

Well back to Harmondale.

I installed the game but it will only run in software mode for video. That's okay, I guess. Assembled a party but don't think I am happy, so am starting over and looking at Barb's suggestions.

Started over and have done most of the quests in Emerald City. I was wondering why my party was dying so fast and then discovered I hadn't equipped any weapons. Still weak and having problems in the temple but all the dragonflies are dead.

I've never been able to get M&M7 to run in XP. Guess I'm just not savvy enough. I just use my old computer with Win 98.

Syd, your party will do fine. I prefer a paladin to a knight, because he can learn body magic & can throw in a healing spell occasionally. Your cleric will have the most powerful healing spells.

For those who have played M&M6, it's basically the same, but you can now grandmaster your skills. I try to GM Water & Air magic as soon as possible. They have the best spells - Water has Ice Bolt, Acid Burst, Town Portal, & Lloyd's Beacon. Air has Fly & Invisibility.

A little trick I use for the contest - Instead of paying Sally 500 gold for the lute, I lure some dragonflies to where she is walking around. The dragonflies kill her & I can steal the lute from her dead body. evil

I never thought of the Sally trick--good idea. I've been leading the dragonflies to the guards to kill for me. Any thoughts on how to do the temple? There are just too many rats, spiders, etc.

I have a Paladin so he can use magic, thief, cleric and sorceress. To use XP, set colors at 16 bit and turn off 3D audio. I also had to use software 3D mode.

I always do the temple by running through it. When you get to the big room, run up the stairs either to the left or right. Push the button on the wall & go through the door. There will be some soldiers who can kill all the rats, etc. that follow you. When you have everything on that side, run back to the dais area & go to the other side.

Pokey glad you got your game running. I had the game started at work and am the same way along so I'm going with my game at work - I've got a Knight, Archer, Cleric and Sorcerer.

We're in Barrowdowns right now just entering the Stone City.

Finally finished up the temple. Seems like the only way to do it is to run through, but I kept running into creatures and then when I got to the guards, I still died. At Harmondale now and my castle is full of rats. More work to do.

Are there any nice maps online like the ones for M&M 8?

The temple is hard, because you're at a low level. It usually takes me several tries. The rats & goblins in Castle Harmondale are a nuisance, but aren't too hard, especially if everyone has a bow. I think it's easier to shoot them from a distance.

The link I posted earlier has nice maps.

Here\'s another site for some good maps.
