Hawka has played this one and I'm sure she will be along later - she's on Hawaii time...

Hi, Templeton and welcome!

Thanks for the welcome Draclvr.

I just noticed on the left, in the other tunnel, there is a star. So there has to be some way to get up to there, which would give you access to the ledge. Which would let you drop down to get the light bulb as well.

You can see the two poles on the left, and they have very small little ledges sticking out, I thought maybe you could use them to jump up the poles to the top. However, the distance between the first one and the second is huge and a double jump doesn't even seem close to reaching.

Not to mention getting to land on the first one and balancing on it, without falling in the water and dieing is difficult at best. Also, as a I mentioned earlier, anything you can do any sort of special jump on is usually highlighted/shimmering, but that may only apply to the main story.

Templeton, I wonder if this is one of those things you can't do until later?

I know in the Indiana Jones Lego games there are areas you can't access in the first part of the games. You have to come back to them later????

I thought about that actually and decided to move on to the next area to see what was up ahead. I don't think you can go back though, at least I couldn't find a way back.

The game actually put up a barrier to block me from going back once I exited the area.

Also, those two tunnels (or whatever you want to call them) appear to be dead ends, I was thinking maybe you access them from the back later, but it doesn't seem to fit. It doesn't make any sense either since you move out of that area and away from it, so coming back to an insignificant starting area like that seems kind of weird.

It seems the bonuses you receive, are dependent on collecting 100 stars before you leave that level. I think the light bulbs span multiple parts of the game, but alas you still need to get the first two from that one area.

Totally frustrating, since it's at the beginning of the game still.

It's like they blocked every which way you could get up to that ledge.

Sorry to hear that. I don't mind a challenge, but do not like impossible ones.

Do you have a save in that area in case someone comes by with the magic answer?

Yes, I actually made a separate save profile, saved it at that spot and went ahead to see what was next.

I was hoping like you said, that you came back to it later.

Templeton, yes I did play the game through, but guess what, I didn't try too get every light bulb and star. I think it is impossible as you will find out when traveling at high speed down the winding things, stars all over but just out of reach. You can still beat the game, just not as many bonuses to "spend".
I didn't even do all of the dream challenges. I no longer have it on the computer, but I am pretty sure once you finish the game, then you can go back and do other stuff over again. I played the game with a console-type controller, it helped alot on controlling him. There is one segment toward the latter part of the game where you have to run away from the chef, BACKWARDS and it is soooo hard to do. I still have thumb pain from pushing that thumb control backwards for so long. That part might be easier with a keyboard. I do think for a kids game it is hard, however, both my grandkids, at that time 7 and 11 had an easier time than I did.

Thanks for responding.

I'm using an old logitech controller I have, much easier for this type of platform game then the keyboard.

I thought because it was one of the first areas of the game, that it would be fairly easy to get these things. I can only imagine what it'll be like later.

It's strange because no one mentions how to get them anywhere on the Internet. They are stationary targets, so I figured someone would have attempted to get them besides me.

All in all, I was actually more interested in going after the light bulbs because there are less (only 10) and they give bonus points, but also help with the colony somehow.

If you can go back after finishing, it might be a better idea for me to just move on and try again later. There is always the chance someone else has an idea, or that I can come up with a different game plan when I take a fresh look at it later.

I will reinstall the game later on since I don't remember that light bulb in that section. You said in the rafters in the house, right after the raft ride. I have a Logitech controller too, it works good for the kids games, I used it on Lemony Snicket and The Polar Express also. I like having something I can hold with both hands.

Is there a Ratapult around or did you try the wall climb ?
Is this the walkthrough you are using ? This One I know it's for the PS2 but the game is the same. I'll keep looking for some helpful info for you. The more I read it sounds like you won't get those till the bonus area's.

Well I figured it out, you do get to come back later, even though they don't tell you that!

The items are there at the beginning, but after you beat a bunch of other missions, you get to come back to that area. They conveniently drop a line of wire right down the center of the room you can walk across from the stairs to get to those items.

It is very simple to get them that way.

I don't know why they didn't just not render those items until you get to the area later, that way there is no confusion as to when you can grab them.

I edited my previous post, but I just wanted to bump this to show everyone that I did resolve the issue.

I don't want anyone still out there trying to figure this one out, all for naught.

I appreciate all the responses I got. In the end it was just a bit of poor level design and a lack of information.

I've collected all, but one light bulb now and am sure I'll find the last one soon enough.

Thanks again everyone.

Thanks for letting us know! Good luck with that last lightbulb.

Thanks Templeton. I hate when there is something in an area I can't do till later. Drives me crazy.

If it's been a day since your last post, you don't have to edit--just go ahead and make a new one wave

Glad that you figured it out Templeton, sorry I never did get the game reinstalled. Real life and Morrowind keeps getting in the way.

Thanks again, everyone.

It was frustrating, but I got it worked out in the end and that's what matters.

They let you collect that first light bulb in that area, then dangle the others in front of you, just out of reach.

You think they would have known someone would figure you could collect them right away.

Have you had to run away from the chef using the contol thingy backwards yet? That is an ultimate form of torture. One day I will have to take another look at those light bulbs though, when I feel like tormenting my old hands again.

Yes, I have. Not the easiest of things to do, you sorta just have to get caught/die a few times to get a look at what is ahead.
