If this is like Morpheus, I'll probably give it a go. the scene shots look a little dreary to me. I like color.

There's a Russian review HERE that gives Outcry (Sublustrum) a 4.7 out of 5.

On the Plus side, the game has "a unique, fascinating atmosphere; interesting puzzle; confusing plot."

On the Minus side, "not the most convenient management; capricious camera."

Could well be worth a look.

EDIT: For those with a fast connection, a 326MB English demo is available HERE

Thanks MrLipid! thumbsup I'm going to combine your posts so they aren't stacked.

I'm curious as to what your "take" is on the demo.

Have just started it. Reminds me a lot of Kheops Studio games. 360 nodes linked by multiple step dissolves.

Very moody.

Those who liked Darkness Within or Morpheus will feel right at home.

There is an "old film" effect running through the demo that makes the image look like one is watching an old film while playing: scratches, dirt, tears, etc. Interesting effect.

It's very curious. And, eventually, one starts looking through the damage and all that remains is the feeling that whatever happened happened a long time ago (1916 or so) and someone happened to film it. This could become a cult hit.

Good description Mr. Lipid. The screen effects are a little distracting, with that flicker because of the imperfections (intentional) in the film. Haven't played very far into it, but so far moody is a good word for it. There's an option to change the mouse sensitivity and the speed of the camera swing, but the default seemed the best option. And all I can say is at least there isn't far to wander being perplexed about in what order things need to be completed. grin

LOL! No -- most of us haven't even gotten our hands on it yet. I plan to visit my local Gamestop in about 15 minutes. grin

Mine is in its way together with Murder in the Abbey, that I hadn't intended to order because it is a cartoon, but I forgot. Outcry sounds very interesting to me, though.

There is a walkthrough. It just happens to be in Russian. A link to it can be found HERE. Use Google's handy-dandy translation feature.

Thanks MrLipid, I'll try and if I don't get anything reasonable I'll start the game and hope I don't get stuck or that a WT in English is published soon.

My local Gamestop says that the closest Gamestop that carries Outcry is in Pennsylvania. cry

I just finished this game and I feel it had one of the best endings in a game. For me, everything that had happened fit and only fit after I witness the last cutscene. Everything I said in my other thread was accurate. Loved it.
Now I do have to say that the game was short. Your ‘saved’ games are saved with the title of the length of time played and my last save was 5.5 hours. 5 very enjoyable hours.

Length isn't everything.

One of my favorites is Amber and it is legendarily short.

I've been digging around in the Polish demo and Outcry is reminding me, more than anything, of Gadget with a splash of Force Majeure II: The Zone.

More art than game.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Gadget and Force Majeure II: The Zone happen to be personal favorites.

I need to find out more about this before I order. If it is anything like Gadget, I'm interested. Gadget was a favorite of mine, especially the expanded version with added cutscenes.

If you have a fast connection, there's a link earlier in this thread to a 326MB demo available from a Polish game site.

There is a lot in the demo, including six savegames that reveal a variety of stages and landscapes in the game.

Or you could go HERE to get a sense of what a typical node looks like during play.

I compared it to Gadget because most of the puzzles are of the "put this odd item in this odd socket" variety.

Also because it is as stylized as Gadget.

The world looks to be made of old photographs that were then captured on motion picture film before World War I. And the film shows its age through dirt, damage and fading.

Looking forward to seeing the full game.

Why do you think that Lordruther? It's not my kind of game at all - first person and lots of machinery type puzzles, but I still think it's absolutely brilliant and sure worth the play.
