Do you mean that taskbar on the bottom of the game screen? After you earn a skill from the skill page don't you just hold down a number - 1 , 2 , etc and it goes into one of the shortcut boxes on the bar? Oh just read your edit. blush, blush

I am all for hit and run or just RUN whenever possible so glad you got away from him Pokey. Got to be careful about running to far ahead because there could be a whole group up ahead that will surround you. Don't forget that you have a personal teleporter to use for healing also if a rebirth fountain isn't available.

Start a fight near a reburth fountain, that way you don't have to travel back and forth so far for health. Oh what sould I do - play T Quest, Oblivion or Sacred?

Hey Pokey! When you die, a gravestone pops up where you die at. You have to go back to that spot and click on the gravestone to get your experience points back. It'll show up on the map thing on the top right of your screen, it's a gray blobby looking thing. If you hover your cursor over it (on the map) it'll tell you it's your charcaters gravestone. When you get to it, click on it and it restores your points. You can only have one gravestone, so if you die before you get to it, it will move the new spot, and I think it also keeps adding the points you lose so you'll get them all back. I've had a good time with this game, I love the creatures! And the graphics are really impressive! Have fun!

To be able to assign skills to quick slots the skill must be a "square" one on the mastery screen. (Sorry, not the "round" ones.) Next, the skill must have at least one skill point assigned. Also, it must not be the default weapon skill, such as "onslaught" for the Warfare mastery. This will be in the left mouse button slot that is placed lower centre of the screen. Finally, it should also not the secondary weapon skill that you also need to click on enemies to strike them, such as War Wind. This secondary skill should be allocated the right mouse button slot at lower centre of the screen. Skills assigned to lower left should ideally be magic related skills such as skills to summon pets, turn into a colossus (Defense mastery), or to send out a shockwave of psychic energy to damage surrounding enemies (Dream mastery).

If you start with Warfare and have Defense as your secondary mastery, you will NOT have enough skill points to get to acquire collosus at the end of the normal difficulty campaign. If you want collosus, you will have to play the game over using epic difficulty. Don't worry, in epic campaign you get to continue raising your skills. You also get to fight some secret monsters like the manticore. However, resistances take a big percentage deduction so you will need to re-equip to raise them greatly, but epic campaign grants you better loot. In epic campaign you also get a new collection of epic campaign artifacts, and the normal campaign's artifacts will be rendered pretty much obsolete, so it is better to use caravan to transfer them all to a new normal difficulty player character that you want to play using different masteries. It is useful to create a new normal difficulty player right now just to hold some of your loot.

If your character is still weak, use the portal to travel back to Greece and beat through the early level hordes to gain experience.
You have to love the "beating" part of the game to like the game, otherwise the game is not to your taste. Because essentially Titan Quest is a hack and slash game. But I call it a click fest -you click your enemies to death.
While you do the initial part of the game again be sure to collect and manage your inventory to balance your resistances. Inventory managment is THE real challenge in this game. Be sure that you have primary resistances to fire, lightning, cold, poison as well as secondary resistances such as stun, slow, energy drain and bleeding. For your mastery (Warfare/Defense), you also need dexterity as this adds to offensive and defensive capabilities. Ideally each piece of equipment including helmet, bracer, torso armour, leg armour, rings and the amulet should have at least two bonuses - (1) a primary resistance as well as (2) a secondary resistance, attack speed, movement speed, dexterity or strength. Attack speed will greatly boost your weapon's damages despite the apparent weak damage range indicated. Many weapons come with additional percentage damage. This is better than numerical damage such as "1-5 cold damage".
You can have two alternate sets of weapons. Consider having two weapons (for dual wield skill from Warfare Mastery) as one set and a shield and a club weapon as your alternate set (enhanced with concussive blow skill from Defense Mastery).
Artifacts when completed will give you bonus advantages, so be sure to collect the pieces, assemble them and then use them to enhance every piece of weapon or armour. The blue inventory items cannot be enhanced but they already come with some very good attributes.
Different boss monsters use different types of attack, so you should be prepared to balance the primary resistances to about 30-40%. The secondary resistances are still important, as slow attacks will prevent your character from getting away quickly enough to consume another potion. Bleeding resistance will mainly be important for the Immortal Throne (Act IV) part of the game, particularly for the Orpheus quest to fight the spider queeen boss.
For the knossos part of the game, you need to fight a minotaur boss and a telkine. You need attack speed, movement speed as well as additional damage on your weapons besides the elemental resistances.
