I can't figure out how to assign a skill to a quick slot. The manual says to R click on a slot and then L click on a skill and it will be assigned to that slot. I've tried L clicking on the only skill I have, Weapon Training, but nothing happens. It seems that that skill should be automatic anyway.

Edit--My one skill is a round one so I guess it is automatic and only the square ones can be assigned.

Do you mean that taskbar on the bottom of the game screen? After you earn a skill from the skill page don't you just hold down a number - 1 , 2 , etc and it goes into one of the shortcut boxes on the bar? Oh just read your edit. blush, blush

Actually, your comment was helpful since I haven't put a skill in a slot yet. I appreciate any advice. On that note, I am having a terrible time defeating the first cyclops. I can't gulp down healing potions fast enough to stay alive. I finally ran past him to the next rebirth fountain and then worked my way back to the shipwreck.

I am all for hit and run or just RUN whenever possible so glad you got away from him Pokey. smile

Got to be careful about running to far ahead because there could be a whole group up ahead that will surround you.

Don't forget that you have a personal teleporter to use for healing also if a rebirth fountain isn't available.

Start a fight near a reburth fountain, that way you don't have to travel back and forth so far for health. Oh what sould I do - play T Quest, Oblivion or Sacred?

But don't you lose experience points when you do that? I only died once and it was early in the game.

Hey Pokey! When you die, a gravestone pops up where you die at. You have to go back to that spot and click on the gravestone to get your experience points back. It'll show up on the map thing on the top right of your screen, it's a gray blobby looking thing. If you hover your cursor over it (on the map) it'll tell you it's your charcaters gravestone. When you get to it, click on it and it restores your points.
You can only have one gravestone, so if you die before you get to it, it will move the new spot, and I think it also keeps adding the points you lose so you'll get them all back.

I've had a good time with this game, I love the creatures! And the graphics are really impressive!

Have fun! thumbsup

Thanks, looney. I do remember seeing a gravestone early in the game and wondered what it was. Now I'll know to look for it. I decided to forget about the cyclops for now. Maybe go back and get him later.

You're welcome Pokey! I'm still stuck at the end boss fight of Titan Quest and can't move on to Immortal Throne yet. So I'm going back thru the hordes to get some more level up power! broccoli

Enjoy! wave

What is the equipment slot, the circular one, on the lower left on the character screen? I haven't found anything to put in it yet. The screen doesn't match anything in either manual. I have Immortal throne installed. I thought it might be for a necklace but that doesn't work.

I am nearing Delphi, working my way through a swamp. The olive grove spider was a lot easier than the cyclops.

Ya know, I was wondering that too Pokey. I think it's for the pet that you get in Titan Quest. If you started thru Immortal Throne, you'll still go thru Titan Quest but no pet seems to show up! think

To be able to assign skills to quick slots the skill must be a "square" one on the mastery screen. (Sorry, not the "round" ones.) Next, the skill must have at least one skill point assigned. Also, it must not be the default weapon skill, such as "onslaught" for the Warfare mastery. This will be in the left mouse button slot that is placed lower centre of the screen. Finally, it should also not the secondary weapon skill that you also need to click on enemies to strike them, such as War Wind. This secondary skill should be allocated the right mouse button slot at lower centre of the screen. Skills assigned to lower left should ideally be magic related skills such as skills to summon pets, turn into a colossus (Defense mastery), or to send out a shockwave of psychic energy to damage surrounding enemies (Dream mastery).

I have assigned onslaught to my left mouse button and have several skills working passively. Haven't got anything to assign to my right mouse button or skill bar yet but am working toward colossus. That should be fun. I have been using my bow with relics attached almost exclusively, as it seems to be the most powerful weapon I have. Maybe when I get dual wield that will change.

I found from reading a walkthrough, that the round slot in the lower left of the character page is for an artifact. I don't have any yet.

Try using War wind as your right mouse slot. What is your primary mastery? Warfare or Defense?

My primary mastery is Warfare. I have points in onslaught and ignore pain. I heard the hamstring is much more effective than it looks. I'll probably go with dual wield and pretty much ignore Defense except for adrenaline and colossus.

I'll check out war wind. Have you used it? Doesn't hurt to try something since you can pay to change it later. Also, it is fun to see the effects.

If you start with Warfare and have Defense as your secondary mastery, you will NOT have enough skill points to get to acquire collosus at the end of the normal difficulty campaign. If you want collosus, you will have to play the game over using epic difficulty. Don't worry, in epic campaign you get to continue raising your skills. You also get to fight some secret monsters like the manticore. However, resistances take a big percentage deduction so you will need to re-equip to raise them greatly, but epic campaign grants you better loot. In epic campaign you also get a new collection of epic campaign artifacts, and the normal campaign's artifacts will be rendered pretty much obsolete, so it is better to use caravan to transfer them all to a new normal difficulty player character that you want to play using different masteries. It is useful to create a new normal difficulty player right now just to hold some of your loot.

I didn't realize that. I'll have to change my strategy.

If you must have Collosus, start the game over at normal difficulty and choose Defense as your primary mastery. You can still have Warfare as your secondary mastery but you won't have enough points to go all the away to aqcuire Ardour by the end of the Normal difficulty campaign. Whatever treasures, such as artifacts and blue coloured equipment you find using your Warfare character can be transferred using the Caravan to the new character.

I'm not sure I will even finish this game in normal. It is a lot of work to get through the hordes of enemies. I just finished Knossos palace and am starting the labyrinth. I don't know whether I will be strong enough to get by the two bosses at the end. I know I don't want to start over.

If your character is still weak, use the portal to travel back to Greece and beat through the early level hordes to gain experience.

You have to love the "beating" part of the game to like the game, otherwise the game is not to your taste. Because essentially Titan Quest is a hack and slash game. But I call it a click fest -you click your enemies to death.

While you do the initial part of the game again be sure to collect and manage your inventory to balance your resistances. Inventory managment is THE real challenge in this game. Be sure that you have primary resistances to fire, lightning, cold, poison as well as secondary resistances such as stun, slow, energy drain and bleeding. For your mastery (Warfare/Defense), you also need dexterity as this adds to offensive and defensive capabilities. Ideally each piece of equipment including helmet, bracer, torso armour, leg armour, rings and the amulet should have at least two bonuses - (1) a primary resistance as well as (2) a secondary resistance, attack speed, movement speed, dexterity or strength. Attack speed will greatly boost your weapon's damages despite the apparent weak damage range indicated. Many weapons come with additional percentage damage. This is better than numerical damage such as "1-5 cold damage".

You can have two alternate sets of weapons. Consider having two weapons (for dual wield skill from Warfare Mastery) as one set and a shield and a club weapon as your alternate set (enhanced with concussive blow skill from Defense Mastery).

Artifacts when completed will give you bonus advantages, so be sure to collect the pieces, assemble them and then use them to enhance every piece of weapon or armour. The blue inventory items cannot be enhanced but they already come with some very good attributes.

Different boss monsters use different types of attack, so you should be prepared to balance the primary resistances to about 30-40%. The secondary resistances are still important, as slow attacks will prevent your character from getting away quickly enough to consume another potion. Bleeding resistance will mainly be important for the Immortal Throne (Act IV) part of the game, particularly for the Orpheus quest to fight the spider queeen boss.

For the knossos part of the game, you need to fight a minotaur boss and a telkine. You need attack speed, movement speed as well as additional damage on your weapons besides the elemental resistances.

Thanks for the advice. I did play Diablo 2 and the expansion and enjoyed them except for the lousy save system. I don't recall having to go back and get more experience to beat bosses, though a couple of them were hard. The inventory seemed much easier to handle as well. Not so many options to think about. I enjoyed the story more, so maybe that helped. I'll be going up against those two bosses today at level 16. Will see how I do and how I need to adjust.

Titan Quest's check point system is quite merciful considering that if you die the rebirth fountain is not that far away. You also respawn with ALL your inventory and equipment. Try taking on Dungeon Siege 2. Ugh! What a monster check point system! Not only do you leave all your equipment at your "death point", you respawn in the town far away from the battle site! To get back your equipment at the battle site you have to re-equip with your spare inventory from a store chest in town and travel all the way (remember the way?) to the battle site. Just try buying new ones when you don't have money!

Right! I died last night for the first time since the start of the game and realized that all the enemies I had killed just before I died stayed dead, as long as I didn't exit the game. What a relief.

Edit--died against the minotaur several times but the telkine wasn't as hard with my 48% lightning resistance. On to Egypt.
