I was going to post in the other thread, but I'd prefer to avoid spoilers, as I see parts of the game being talked about.

I didn't fully search the thread as a result, as well.

I have the original game and want to upgrade to enhanced. I tried loading the patch FAQ on The Witcher site and it just sent me to a 404 not found page. The download page is half English and half Polish and seems to send me in a bit of a loop.

I did get the download working, but the speed is erratic at best and I'm not getting anywhere close to the speed my connection can get.

Is there a better site to download from? I'm going to search, but I'm assuming someone has already found the best/easiest to download from.

What I'd like to be able to do is download the patch and burn it to a DVD, so I always have it, in the event it's no longer provided online, or more difficult to download in the future.

I'm wondering if that is possible?

Also, when it says download languages, do I need to download the US version if I have that version of the game? (I'd assume yes, but I'm wondering if you can download other versions and if it works)

Also, do you still need to get the blood patch separate?

Templeton, there is thread Here that addresses most of those issues but doesn't have spoilers.

I know that for some folks the downloads were very very slow and took most of a day.

There are some alternate sites listed on that above referenced thread.

You can burn the patch so you will have it later.

luck

Thanks. I'll check there now.

For some reason, the download sped up after about 5-10 minutes, and finished in less than an hour for the patch.

Just need the language pack now.

I finally gave up on downloading from the Witcher site because of the same issues you had, Templeton. I ended up downloading from File Planet and had no problems at all. I used the links provided in the thread L4L linked you to.

I got everything downloaded no problem within a few hours. I used the official site for everything.

For some strange reason, it would start off erratic for about 5 minutes, constantly going up and down, then speed up and stay at a consistent speed.

I got everything burned to a DVD now.

I haven't applied anything to the game yet though, been holding off until I actually have some time to start playing it.

I keep getting the error "a connection with the server could not be established" when trying to register. So I can't install the enhanced edition until it'll let me register, which it apparently won't do.

I thought it was just some server down time, but it has been more than enough time for that to be ruled out.

Templeton, I never registered and mine is working just fine. Are you sure you have to register? I have the disk version, not the download.

I have the download version. Won't let me run the patch until I "activate". It won't "activate" until I "register".

I feel like I'm going in loops and getting nowhere fast.

Ahhh Templeton, how aggravating. I know others had some problems with that too in the earlier Witcher threads. Did you take a look at those to see how/if they solved it? Have you tried their tech support?

I ran a search on here and on the official forums. I haven't come up with anything that relates.

Some people had that error, but it was due to heavy server loads in the beginning when the download was just released.

Templeton, you might try posting your problems at the Witcher forums. They are really helpful.

Sorry for the lack of response. I was without the Internet for a while, that's sorta why I wanted to get The Witcher installed.

I've left a message in the forums at The Witcher as well. Hopefully, they'll have something to add.

Excellent. I hope someone there can help you as this game is well worth the aggravation!

Templeton, is this FAQ from the official site any help to you?

I've read the FAQ, but so far no luck. The only response I got from the official forums so far, was to look at the FAQ.

I had already done so though.

Templeton, did you try downloading from another site such as File Planet to see if that would help?

I've got the patch already. The problem is I can't register so it will let me apply it.

If I run it, it tells me to register my game. I run the registration and hit a dead end when it won't connect.

The link I provided last was specifically on the registration problem. That didn't help? If not, I guess the only thing to do would be to post again at the official forums, saying you have read all the FAQ and still need help. You could ask in the Gameboomers glitches forum, they might have some ideas.

I really don't get it. The only reason it shouldn't work, is if there was some sort of server issue, but that shouldn't last for more than a day.

I disabled everything on my end, including my firewall (not that I should need to). I don't get any errors, it just doesn't want to connect to register for whatever reason.

I don't have any connection issues with their website, forum or any other website or program.

The only other thing I can think of is that there is a problem with the download itself. Sorry you're having such a problem.

It is possible that your firewall is holding up the connection. Check the logs to see if the download site is being allowed through.

I feel a lot more like I do now, then when I first got here
