Hi everyone. I just installed Everlight and when I get to the page that has the keyboard shortcuts ("E" for show all exits, etc.) the game crashes to the desktop and I get a message saying that "game.exe" has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Right now I'm trying this game on my husband's old laptop and here are my specs:

Cat, I'm no technical expert by any means, but if you have an Intel integrated graphics card, that could well be the source of the problem here. More and more, newer adventure games are requiring that you have a video card with dedicated video memory.

I am not sure what is going on with this but I get some weirdness with this game as well. Installed on xp with dual core processor and an upscale video card.

After install including game added updates of dx9 when I click on the execute icon placed on the desktop I get this error box pop up.

"Runtime Error R6034. Program c:\Programfiles\Jowood\Everlight\Bin\game.exe Application has made attempt to load the C runtime loader incorrectly. Please consult the applications support team for more information."

I click ok to close the box it closes and reopens with a second box reporting the same message. I click ok and it goes back to desktop.

I click the execute icon a second time and my firewall pops up with a question, "Do you want game.exe to access the internet?"
I click deny just for laughs questioning why this puppy wants to phone home. The firewall box closes and then magically the game fires up. Hmmm?

Tried it three or four times and each time the bloody error message appears twice and on a second attempt the firewall ask for the same permission which is denied, no phoning home here. Each time the game starts up I have played into it a few scenes without any further issues.

So perhaps being persistent and not taking no for an answer is the key. Don't know but it is working.

I appreciate the information, oldmariner, particularly as I plan on installing this game in a couple of hours. It sounds like it might prove to be an interesting experience.

ADDENDUM: I just installed and ran the game and there were no problems whatsoever, no strange questions, no hesitation, nada.

Marian, is your computer connected to the Internet? I wonder if what oldmariner is talking about is some copy prevention thing -- or a method of tracking game users.

Jenny, it may be one or both of your suggestions. Denying it to connect does not prevent you from playing. That suggest it may be an attempt to track users . I suspect if it were a copy protection device then refusing connection should cause the game not to activate.

Yes, my computer is connected to the internet.

I have the same probleme as oldmariner but me the game just don't start with this message about the game.exe. I've made more than the half of the game and now i can't even open it anymore!

It sure sounds like a copy prevention problem -- allowing you to play part of the game as a sort of "demo" and then cutting you off if it doesn't "validate" in a certain amount of time.

Oldmariner, let us know if your game continues to function, or whether it cuts you off the way it did with Claudie.

From a Google search, the English version of Everlight uses SecuROM v.7. Amazon reviews are full of complaints about games like Spore that use SecuROM v.7.

This explains why I was unable to play Perry Rhodan on my main gaming computer, which I don't connect to the Internet. The game simply wouldn't start, and gave no clue as to why. It looks like I'm going to have the same problem with Everlight.

I am also receiving a Runtime error when I install this game on my new computer - Win 7 64 bit. I've tried installing it in my User Profile and running as Administrator, and the game is still refusing to start. Does anyone know of a solution for this?

EDIT: Not sure if it's relevant or not, but I have a AMD Radeon HD 6450 graphics card. It came with the new computer.

I'll assume your video card is adequate to play the game (and not Intel graphics),
Do a Google search for:
Everlight NoCD

and install the NoCD.
See if using the NoCD gets the game started for you.
Be sure to scan the NoCD for viruses before using it, just in case.

Thanks, Jenny. Unfortunately, any NoCD files I downloaded refuse to open. All of the files I found were .rar files. I scanned for viruses, downloaded Bit Zipper in order to open the files, followed the instructions, and nothing. Is there a specific place I should be looking?

Do you have the same issue as this?

InlandAZ, yes, that is my problem. Unfortunately, I don't get the firewall popup as oldmariner did, so I can't follow those steps. Also, I am using Microsoft Security Essentials rather than AVG. This is the same copy protection I was using on my other computer, and I did not experience these problems with the game.

If you don't see the C++ Redistributable Packages under Add/Remove programs, download the latest from Microsoft.

Thanks, Inland! I will try this as soon as I get the chance. I'll have to wait until tomorrow or Sunday because it looks like one of those NoCD patches put a virus on my computer after all. I was as careful as I could be, scanning it, etc., but it doesn't always matter.

Anyway, my computer expert friend said he can remove the virus for me, and in the meantime, I'm using my old computer. Will give this a try as soon as I am able and let you know.
