I'd say Blackmoor Manor was hardest, though I haven't played the most recent Nancy. I had more trouble with Stay Tuned for Danger, but that was mainly due to glitching (things not triggering properly) rather than the puzzles.

I couldn't believe they put a typing test in Blackmoor Manor. How do people get past that if they're slow typists? (Maybe they let you skip it? I forget.)

Blackmoor Castle hardest thing for me was the maze to get to the lab. Not only do you have to go through the maze to get to the lab, but you have to go through it again just to get out. I wish it was like the bog maze in Malloy Castle, once you get to the hut, you don't have to go through the bog again.

White Wolf of Icicle Creek:
The Fox and Goose game and catching the villian at the end.

Some of the arcade games in The Haunted Carousel.

Yes, I remember some difficulty in Blackmoor Manor (as in many of the games), but it was fun! ! So, for me, it's White Wolf, since that's the last one I was willing to put up with (the difficulty being in all the speed-clicking). I played about two-thirds of the game and then just quit & uninstalled it. frown

Yup, Blackmoor Manor for me too. But it was agonizingly fun.

I found Blackmoor hardest but very fun. smile Also Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon seemed pretty hard but it might have just been me when I was trying to replay it because it didn't seem as hard the first time. I haven't played Phantom yet (going to start tomorrow and can't wait!) or Haunting of Castle Malloy but that one sounds like it may be hard - at least judging by the number of threads about it on the hints page right now. Can anyone tell me how Castle Malloy compares to Blackmoor in terms of difficulty?

i`ve played castle malloy twice, and blackmoor manor 3 1/2 times,i thought blackmoor was a whole lot harder as the hints for the problems were harder to find and understand. castle malloy was a lot more fun to me as the problems(puzzels) were easier to figure out. i think most can agree that the mini-games (typing-ghost catching and playing the drums and making drinks) are a pain. but if you are going to play nancy drew you have to put up with them.

For me It was Stay tuned for Danger as it was the only one I couldn't finish due to the timed random puzzle at the end. I have since been given a link to help but haven't tried it yet! smile

I'd probably agree that Blackmoor had the most difficult puzzles overall, but to me it was by far the most fun of the Nancy games. For one thing, I love the alchemy puzzles. But the single most difficult puzzle for me was trying to sew the dress in Old clock - I was so frustrated and about ready to send the game sailing when I finally realized a secret to doing it.

There's a secret to sewing that dress? I've heard people say that real seamstresses have the hardest time with it. lol You're better at it if you've never sewn anything in "real life." Does that make sense?

There may be something to that, although in "real life" I don't sew either. grin
After screaming at the screen "Yes, you'll wear and it like it too" several many times at the top of my lungs, I discovered
Click to reveal..
when you try to do it slowly and painstakingly, the game notices your errors, but if you do it really quickly and halfway right, the game accepts it. duh

Blackmore was tough in that I couldn't find one of the puzzles (Jane's door) and making the key to unlock the treasure was a bit frustrating

It was the first game that made me wonder "Hmmmm... maybe I should've started with Junior Level"

I've noticed that the games are getting a bit tougher. I use to start with Senior Level but have since given up on that right after Blue Moon Canyon

The Toughest? I'd say Phantom of Venice. Why? That consarned, dagblasted timed water level puzzle

AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear forest animals,
I've been singing for over an hour, where are you?

I'd agree with most folk here that Blackmoor Manor was the hardest ND; I had major problems with the revolving maze to the lab, and stumbling around in the dark with a piffling little glowstick elsewhere in the game wasn't too much fun either. Other than that - lots of fun. grin

I thought that Castle Malloy was a fairly easy game up to a point near the end with the book puzzles. Talk about a brow-knotter. If the wind had changed while I was trying to work my way through those, then I would have a very ugly expression on my face right now. lol

I forget which adventure it was, but it's the one that had the "toss across" game. I had to request a saved game to finish that one. It was the first and only time I couldn't complete a Nancy Drew on my own.

As far as wandering around hopelessly lost most of the time, it would have to be Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake.

Absolutely makes sense Becky. I wouldn't call myself a seamstress, but I can sew... & that was the hardest seam I've ever encountered! I'd have done better with eyes closed woozy !

A save was my trick for sewing the dress. smile I can’t sew in real life and am even worse at it in the game. I hated that puzzle and found it one of the worst. Didn’t mind the cooking or the painting but can not do arcade games (though I got through quite a few on my own in lots fo the Nancy games – just not the skeeball thing in Crystal Skull….) or anything requiring much hand-eye coordination.
Thanks for answering about Blackmoor vs. Malloy. I can’t wait for Christmas because Castle Malloy is sounding better and better. smile

MaG was nice enough to send me a save for the dress in The Old Clock. I am pretty sure that I tried it everyway possible and if not for MaG I don't know what I would have done.
Yeesh.
