Good Morning:

Not sure if this is the right place to post this??? Installed this game and was asked for a code. Found code, typed it in and got error of invalid code. Contacted Kalypso in Germany, listed as the publisher in back of manual and they say the German edition doesn't have a code and I need to contact the US publisher. My question is, who is the US publisher and has anyone else encountered this with Agon IV? Thanks for any help offered as right now I am stymied. confused

Thanks so much, Becky, but no. It is strange that it installed and let me play it for awhile and then the next time I tried to play it it wanted the code which is on the inside cover of the box and then it says it isn't valid and that is as far as it goes. Does anyone know who the US publisher is? I think they are the ones I need to contact as this game is not letting me in at all now. One more thought...maybe if I uninstall and reinstall it?? This is just so silly and I want to play...stomping feet.... hardwall

Lotus, it's worth to try the uninstall and reinstall option. Make a copy of your saved game(s) though!

I will try this and thanks so much Bernard and Becky. I will let you know if it works. BTW, the readme says if you uninstall, it will save the saved games!!

Hi Lotus

Did you install a patch for this game? I can't remember for sure but this may be the game that if you installed a patch that was made for the German version it overwrote the .exe file with the one that asks for a code that was only included with the German release.

If you did install this patch on the US release my guess would be to do what Bernard suggested, uninstall the game and maybe clean the Registry with CCleaner before doing the re-install.

Then again if you didn't install the patch or I have this confused with another game........Nevermind! cool

Hi All:

It worked until I clicked out and as soon as i tried to load it back up it wanted and rejected the code. ARRRGGH! The guys in Germany are still trying to help me. I'll let you know what happens.

Lotus
EDIT:
Am I blind? Just saw your post, Greyfuss and I did install the patch but I think it was one from GB???? I have had it for awhile in hopes of getting this game so I am not certain where I got it?? I don't care to display my ignorance to the world but what is the Registry Cleaner CC? I had a paid version of a Registry Cleaner and my computer guy removed it and told me not to spend my money on "junk".

Hi Lotus, if you did a fresh install, the patch should have been lost. I don't think Reg Cleaner would help you here. Where did you get this copy of the game? That's the first one in line to answer your questions.

I can't remember if it was from an Amazon or an E-Bay seller..and usually I keep this info but guess I didn't this time...have had it for awhile. Kalypso informed me that they did not publish this version of the game and sent me to Private Moon in Hungary but so far I cannot find a "contact us link." (All of this sleuthing is almost gamey!!!!)

Lotus -- you can try here. If the game is from an E-Bay seller, is there a chance it's actually a pirated copy?

Wow, Becky, I never even thought of that! I don't think so as I try to deal with the well-known legitimate sellers on both of those sites and the game certainly appears to be the real thing. I will address the issue as you have directed me and let you know what comes up next. I believe Private Moon is in Hungary so there will be a day's difference in the emails not to mention the weekend so it may take some time. Thanks to everyone so much for all of the help! Also, thank you so much Jenny, as I downloaded the Registry Cleaner, (to heck with my tech), and the defraggler and think these will be very useful.

I hope it's a legitimate copy and that they can get things straightened out for you!

Hi again.... I really don't know what to say. I am embarrassed at my own ignorance of computers. I have two hard drives and have been putting and playing my games in the secondary one. I was talking to my infamous computer guy and when he found out I was doing that he told me that I should put all of my documents, photos and music in the secondary drive and play my games in "C". Once I did that the game began to work without the code. Now I have to apologize to Germany and Hungary as well!! I guess this apology will be heard around the world. Thank you so much everyone for all of your advice and input. I have learned quite a few things this time.

You can tell them what the "fix" was, but I wouldn't bother apologizing. It's been many years since installing a game to the C: drive was mandatory for games. Most modern games allow you to install game files to D:, E:, F:, or whatever drive or partition you have available, and they work just fine.

Lotus, I'm writing on behalf of the AGON developer team. It’s indeed nice of you to aplogize and hope you enjoy the game now.
However, it's worth looking at whether any thechnical issues extisted.
Although you seem to have found the solution, we would still like to know which release that particular game belonged to and check whether the code was assigned correctly by the publisher. Could you help us by sending the code that is printed on the game? Is there any other company logo or name visible elswhere on the box perhaps (other than Kasypso on the manual)?
It's important for us to make sure our games run correctly and your help would be most valuable. Anyhow, if you encounter the problem again please let me know and you will be sent a new code.

thanks agondev-2

It's always great to see developers caring about the folks who play the games. I really enjoyed this game wave
