My favorite game of the 90s was Shivers I. It won't load on the newer systems - I have Vista now (ugh) Is there any talk of making a newer version?

If you've got a Windows 9x installation CD you should be able to play the game under Virtual PC (it's free).

Virtual PC 2007

Edit -

I just happened to have Shivers II sitting in front of me, so I installed it on a Windows 98 guest and it seems to run just fine. Panning rotation is a bit fast, but I can live with that one.

Hey InlandAZ

Do you have to play the game in a windowed mode like that with VPC ?

No, I just prefer it that way. You can run the VM at the full native resolution of the monitor (well, most of the time you can anyway) but because the game was pre rendered at 640x480, it will still play in a window.

Here’s what it looks like when the guest is run full screen -

Full screen VM running Shivers II

Here is a site that has installers for some older Sierra games to work in XP/Vista: Shivers 2, RAMA, Lighthouse, Phantasmagoria 2, LSL7.

so that it can be played on Windows Vista. Shivers was my favorite game and I played it several times. Loved the fact that I could choose a different route each time I played. The different themed rooms in the museum were fascinating.

Musicgirl, no need to start another thread. People already answered your previous post.

I combined your threads.

Haven't tested it on my new vista laptop (awesome birthday present) but Shivers 1 worked without modification on my old vista desktop pc. It played in the smaller window like in the pic InlandAZ posted.

Do you mean you didn't need Virtual PC to run it?

nope just installed it straight from the disk to my desktop pc and it worked, no mods needed.

Edit: just tried it on my laptop. Wouldn't install. If it makes a difference my desktop was 32 bit vista and my laptop is 64 bit vista.
