I received this email yesterday about downloading the demo

http://EnterTheStory.com

- along with a load of screen shots and a free game demo. The full game costs $14.99 (or the equivalent in other currencies), and if you buy it then you get the next TWO games FREE.

I've been waiting for this one for a long time ... played the demo, and was a bit disappointed ... couldn't figure out what to do and not much help

let me know what you think

I tried the demo and it looks interesting.. But yes I had some problems first.. Didn't know what to do and how it works.. When I figured it out it was quite good

I've been waiting for this one too, and somehow the release date snuck into 2008, when I thought for sure it would go into 2009. :lol12:

Menahune -- I've edited the thread title so that I could sticky this and more people will see it.

I've downloaded the demo - it looks interesting but I haven't got too far with it - I'm still trying to work out what to do! :smile12:

Am I correct that if you want the hard copy, you do have to purchase the download also? The paycart will take the ten dollar disc purchase by itself it appears, but elsewhere on the site it says if you want the disc version, it's an additional ten dollars.

Thanks for the news, menahune!

I downloaded the demo & will play it....I will let you know what I think...

Thanks, menahune

Edit: Unfortunately I won't be buying this one...

When I first started the game I got a black screen..Couldn't go back to windows without restarting ...I had to do the compatibility to windows 98 to get it to run <sigh>

The graphics are very Bad..Not what I am use to at all... duh

The game does have a help tag on the right side of the screen to help you to learn movement clicks...etc...etc
But if your use to doing things a certain way...You will not like this interface...

My Opinion:

I've been waiting for this ever since I saw it on indiegamer forums. I'm setting myself up to be disappointed, I guess ... but what i saw was amazing. The graphics, I thought, were minimilist in a quite enticing way ... not bad, but very original, very interesting ...

Looks a little intriguing, but I too would like to know what you get on the disc? Is it just the current episode?

I'm also intrigued with this one but I can't figure out what to do. I keep going in circles in the sewer. I find the graphics different but in a nice way and I've used stranger interfaces than the one in this game. Anyone care to write a walkthru for this demo?

I second the motion at least for some hints and tips. I am also going in circles in the sewer. They're beginning to smell!!!

I found my way out to there too - is that the end of the demo? I wasn't sure as it seemed so short! smile

OK, I give up. How did you guys get out of the sewer? Is there another place to click that I cannot see. I am on the fence about buying it because it is too minimal graphics for me. But the idea of being in great classic stories is very interesting.

Thanks for any help on the demo.

Hi jachern, I've posted in hints how I got out of the sewer (I think!)

I agree that the graphics are quite minimal & the demo is very short but it intrigued me enough to think about buying the full game! smile

I would hope that the full game would have "normal" graphics rather that shadow figures. Hmm, I will do some looking around to see if there is any more information on how this game looks graphically. If the graphics are the same as the demo, I doubt I'd want to play it....IMO laugh

Chrissie, from what you said about the whole game, the graphics are representative of the demo? The figures are "shadows" so to speak?

They have been so far Cissy, & if you look at the screenshots HERE (scroll down) - you can see that it seems to be the style of the game throughout & doesn't promise anything different!

It is supposed to be true to the classic novel by Victor Hugo (which is one I've never read!) but I really haven't got far enough into it to say whether it is worth it or not yet, that's if you don't mind the graphics! smile

Thank you Chrissie for the hints. I will go to the hints forum and check it out. And sorry, Ana. I know the rules about different forums for different subjects.

However, I am passing on this game. It is too shadowy and dingy for my taste.

Seems to be a great historical adventure. Gets in my to-buy list

I'm a real fan of puzzels and games which develop the "thinking" not "shooting" skills.
