I was thinking about posting a thread in the Trading Post for anyone interested in trading it, but before I do, I wanted to see what all my fellow Boomers thought of the game.

I was wondering if anyone had any opinions, good or bad, to share with me on the game?

H4, Dreamfall is an adventure game, so I'm going to move you to that forum.

If you search the Adventure Discussion Forum for Dreamfall you will find many threads.

Aside from the fact that it's a bit more of an interactive movie than a game, it's one of the best "games" I've played, ever.

There's definitely definitely definitely no logic to human behaviour.

Thanks L4L, forgot about that. I click "Darkside" so often it's just a force of habit now.

Another question I had, would starting with the first one (The Longest Journey) be a good idea or are the games tied to each other that tightly? I'd like to just see about playing Dreamfall, but I think my Dad has TLJ stashed away in his closet of adventure games somewhere.

I'd definitely start with The Longest Journey.
Otherwise you won't know the importance of finding April.

Dreamfall was a big disappointment for me...

If you start out playing the Longest Journey..Don't expect Dreamfall to be anything like it at all !!!

Definitelly start with TLJ. It is nothing like dreamfall indeed, but the strongest thing in dreamfall is it's fantastic story, which is very much related to TLJ.
TLJ is a classic adventure, with much inventory, long conversations (which I personally loved but many complain about them being too long), beautiful theme and story, and is indeed very long.
Dreamfall is more about running from place to place, there are very few parts which require serious thinking... however the story is so enchanting (in my eyes) that it doesn't feel laborous at all... really like going inside a book more than anything... It's super-realistic and the voice acting is superb.
I say - invest in this series (which should have a sequel sometime by the way), which is counted by many as one of the best games ever... and start with TLJ.

There's definitely definitely definitely no logic to human behaviour.

I'd vote for the start with TLJ group. I played them back to back and that was a fantastic way to do it. wave

I agree with Tomer..great story and terrific voice acting. I loved it but wish it had been more challenging, and without the combat (which thankfully was easy) or the need to sneak.

I, personnally, loved DreamFall better than TLJ, even though TLJ is considered to be THE classic adventure game of all time. Dreamfall was beautiful, had interesting characters, and a very intriguing story. I was sorry when it came to an end.

I'm one of those players who got tired of the l-o-n-g converstions in TLJ. I actually fell asleep during some of them, but I did enjoy the game over-all.

I think I liked both games pretty equally. TLJ did have very long conversations that always seemed to come up when I was trying to shut the game down for the night.

I know the DreamFall story followed TLJ but didn't think it really had enough to do with it to call it a sequel. In that I was a little disappointed although I still liked the game a lot. I really loved the one song in there.

My understanding is that the third game is only going to be available as a download and I absolutely hate that! I want a disc.

I feel your pain as I too want a disc. I may, just may relent on my refusal to buy DL games to purchase the sequel. Even though I felt disappointed with Dreamfall it was one of the five best games released since TLJ. The disappointment was because I felt it fell short of TLJ in depth of story and character development. It added useless fighting scenes and painful stealth requirements. But mostly it failed to develop an in depth description of April's growth from TLJ to Dreamfall's events. Of course where they left April is unforgivable. My hope is Ragnar is creative enough in the sequel to move April forward. We will see if they ever continue the project.

I was put off by the fighting component, and never played more than the first half hour of the game. It is still sitting on the shelf. Maybe some day if I have no other games to play, I'll load it up again.

I found the fighting to be easy enough for even those not very skilled at to not have much of a problem.

I myself did not like TLJ, there is long conversations and lots of them, which I really don't like smirk. And the second one Dreamfall has action in it and I don't care for that. But I am just one person, there is a lot of people who seem to like it. If your like me you never really know until you try it. I now always read all the reviews I can find about a game to help me to decide to buy or not. The reviews here at gameboomers are pretty helpful they cover everything. I bought TLJ and Dreamfall at a Gamestop store before I ever discovered Gameboomers. I am so catrub thankful for Gameboomers they have really help me in different ways.

Despite being mostly a fan of games full of puzzles, I agree with Tomer, this game was one of the best I have played ever. I have never cared so much for a character in an adventure game as I did when playing Dreamfall.
