Every so often an adventure game concept appears that’s so unusual and ambitious that cynical observers (like yours truly) find it unlikely that the Indie developer who came up with the idea will be able to actually succeed. So it’s intriguing to be proven wrong.

Looks interesting. Surprised it hasn't gotten much exposure considering it came out last year. About how many hours was the game for you?

I didn't actually keep track of the hours I played. More than 25 to finish, and then I went back in and explored and talk to characters more after that. I am a slow gamer, though.

From the review and elsewhere around the net, I am still confused about the game... is it a pure adventure?

Shadow -- I would consider it a pure adventure, but it is different in many ways than the "typical" adventure game. It doesn't have an inventory and it doesn't have mechnical puzzles -- all the puzzles are related to the characters' knowledge of objects or people. It's highly character and story based. It doesn't have voiceovers, and the aesthetic in the game is very unusual. I guess you could say that it's a complex interactive story with puzzle elements that advance the plot.

I am still very intrigued. $15 and the next 2(assuming they come out) is free. Pretty hard to beat that deal. Seems a little too good to be true.

What about it did you not like darleen?

Also, from the page:

""What's all this about saving the world?"
The money is used to help end world poverty. Yes, seriously. I am using this money to fund my research into land rent as the basis for economic justice.

Many Nobel prize winning economists have argued for land rent as a fairer alternative to taxation. Winston Churchill spent the first part of his life campaigning for it (til he got sidetracked by Hitler). Land rent is the simplest and fastest way to put justice at the heart of an economy, and thus end poverty. But the arguments are often long and technical. I'm researching ways to simplify these arguments, so that every voter (and crucially, every land owner) can see how it benefits them.

I created this game as a way to fund my studies. I have a dream of using Henry George's ideas to end world poverty. When you buy "EnterTheStory" you'll be helping me turn that dream into a reality. "

Now it seems really too good to be true.

I've just downloaded the demo. I have to say that this is the first time I ever read the EULA all the way through. It was very entertaining in and of itself. Enterthestory.com is where you can find the demo if your interested. Well I'm off to give it a try.

The EULA? You mean the appeal to basic human decency thing? lol

Yep.. That's the one. Well I escaped the sewer. I don't like that policeman very much. Speaking of human decency. He stinks.
The space bar comes in handy in this game. It was fun but it took a few minutes to get use to it. I think it would be very confusing once you get to the city. Lots of note taking me thinks. The game had me stumped more than once. It was great figuring it out though.

Thank you Becky for shining an editorial light on this.

I did recall it as soon as I read your thoughtful review, I am sorry to say that it had slipped my mind entirely all this time frown

Wandered the sewers for a bit, and will get the full game next. It is a different interactive experience, and I say well done for that. smile

Ceremony of Innocence, Blue Ice, Isobel, Museum of Broken Dreams and now Enter The Story ...

Always a pleasure to experience something unique

The sewers give you a sense of the game, but I must say they were my least favorite part. lol I liked the game a lot better aboveground.
