What's your favorite adventure game genre--fantasy, sci fi, horror, or mystery?
I love 'em all, but a think my favorite is fantasy.
(Of course, some games mix these genres, and a few are in other genres!)

I especially like it when a game can fit into more than one genre. For example, Culpa Innata is sci fi as well as murder mystery. The Longest Journey is sci fi as well as fantasy. Generally I favor games that fit into the drama category, although I do enjoy comedy. And I love games with a strong story and interesting characters, no matter what the genre. smile

Mystery and horror for me, every time. laugh
I enjoy other genres too, but anything with a little bit of scared will always grab me.

I like any genre with a good story but like to vary it from game to game as to the mood I'm in at the time. I'm always so behind with my games I'm lucky enough to always have a choice! smile

Anything spooky or a great mystery. I least like the comedy ones as everyones sense of humour can be very very different.

My favorite game genres for adventure games is mystery, sci-fi and fantasy - and a mix of these. I like horror, too, but then it should be included like as they do in thriller movies.

Adventure gaming is fun smile

I love the noir detective type of games. Atmosphere can really draw me into the game.

My favorites are puzzle based games with humor like Monkey Island, Discworld, Simon the Sorcerer, Ankh etc.

It's nice to be important but it is much more important to be nice.

I love a real good mystery story line catrub. That keeps me guessing and stuck to the game. If it has ghost or if there is sci-fi or fantasy in it, that's fine with me as long as there is a lot of mystery thumbsup happydance.

Comedy adventure games? That's something new to me! Can any of you give examples of them?

Hi Douglas Bregger wave

I have never played A Vampyre Story, but on one of the past threads about the game, some were saying how funny it was. I have never played a comedy so I really don't know of any for sure myself that are out there think. But there must be.

I consider Ankh, Al Emmo, Runaway etc to be comedies. They make me laugh with their little comments.

I like mystery, adventure, fantasy, spooky or ghost and the runaways 1 & 2 which I thought were comedies. I guess I am just a game nut who will try any game at least once.

I´m not really into comedy/ cartoonish adventures , so my favourites will always be the rather serious adventures. Whether that´s horror/mystery or thriller. Pretty much the games that make use of the genre´s potential for mature storytelling.

More of an "I-know-it-when-I-see-it"...

I've enjoyed games from all _genres_ but the ones I gravitate to most frequently are "spooky" (i.e., psychological scares more than gore) and 'archaeolgical' mystery games such as Timelapse or Shivers. Surreal adventures like Obsidian are great fun for me, too.

My favorite games of all time are a) anything Jonathan Boakes puts out and b) games like Barrow Hill, Scratches, Shivers, Amber...
