A weird little concept I came up with today: What adventure/RPG games are set in worlds you think would be interesting places to live in?
I think April's world in THE LONGEST JOURNEY would be pretty cool. Actually both worlds--the real world and the fantasy world. Also, the city depicted in the Sega Dreamcast version of Sonic the Hedgehog would be a nice place to live. (the city where Station Square is)
Also, the city depicted in CRAZY DRIVER would be an interesting place to live in--so long as you avoid the streets!:)

I'd love to live on the islands of Riven. I'd spend my days watching the sunners on the beach and viewing the underwater world on Plateau (Spike) Island.

Hi Douglas wave

I would dearly love to recreate Atrus' home in the watery canyon in Revelation. That is the coolest place....if only there could be some working "books" to link me elsewhere....dream....dream....

I'd like to live in/on the train in Syberia. It has beauty, mobility, romance, and (LadyKestral please note!) it has a bathroom. In all the MYST worlds, which I love completely, I never found a bathroom. lol

If all the people were heroes, there would be no one to watch the parades.

I, too, would love to live in the world of The Longest Journey or Dremfall. I would love to live in the world og Syberia, too. Or even in the world of Nikopol - but that's because I just love sci-fi settings. Perry Rhodans setting (before the collapse) would also be appealing to me.

The setting for GTA IV sounds interesting to live in, too, I find.

Adventure gaming is fun smile

In the Land of The Dead from Grim Fandango, but before the gangsters started turning the major cities into renditions of Las Vegas.

I think the castle in THE WATCHMAKER would make a very cool hotel!

At one time I would have said Arcadia would be a nice place to live in. But Dreamfall spoiled it and it isn't nice anymore.

I think the best choice would be in the different Ages of the Myst, where you could move between the Ages at will and pick the one that suited you on any particular day.

I have to agree that Anacapri would probably be the best for a real world place. Versailles palace would also be nice, but not back in 1685. I wouldn't want to endure 1685 medical treatments.

Sounds like you never found the Toilet Age. The D'Ni don't talk about it much. They got tired of hearing the jokes about the "Dunny Age."

They link to Dreamland in Sseven Games of the Soul, where there are more bathrooms than inhabitants.

Hm... I've always thought that "dunny" was an Australian word. I could barely contain my laughter when I heard Atrus first use the word. I won't go into the Australian similes involving the word. They are quite crude, but I would be very grateful if the American or other readers could enlighten me on whether the word is used outside Australia.

Cheers, barbarosso

Not usually, though some people might pick it up off the Internet the way they pick up other British or Australian slang.

No doubt Rand Miller never heard of a "dunny" when he made Myst, or he wouldn't have pronounced "D'Ni" as "dunny." I noticed he changed the pronunciation to something like "dnee" in the more recent Myst games.

I forget exactly when I first learned what a dunny was, but it would have been in a Myst forum or possibly a newsgroup.

I liked TLJ also, not so much DreamFall although I liked the game a lot. ANY Tex Murphy game, there on Chandler Ave. with short visits to New San Francisco on occasions. I think I'd try to get a job working at Louie's but I would enjoy his famous chili or breakfasts too much. If you read the novels then you know what I mean about Louie's cooking!

Hi,
Like Haze the train on Syberia. I still want to ride the Orient Express from Paris to Istanbul. My next travel dream.

The village of Saxton (in the Lost Crown) looks like it would be a nice place to visit. That is, if you don't mind the possibility of ghosts!:)
