I ran my DXDIAG and came up with a problem, this after a couple of games wouldn't run and had error notices. Here is what I got:

DDraw Test Result: All tests were successful.
D3D7 Test Result: All tests were successful.
D3D8 Test Result: Failure at step 29 (DrawIndexPrimitive): HRESULT = 0x8876017c (Out of video memory)
D3D9 Test Result: Failure at step 29 (DrawIndexPrimitive): HRESULT = 0x8876017c (Out of video memory)

I tried the Troubleshoot and it sent me to MS Updates but I didn't see a way to do this for DX. I think I had a problem with this same thing before and you guys helped me and now I cannot remember exactly what you had me do to reinstall this so can you please help me again?? That is IF this is what I need to do... Many thanks in advance.

Did you you try to reinstall the DX software?
What is the video card you're using and what's the version of the the driver?

The DX tests are known to fail on some video cards - it isn't necessarily a problem. Are you having an issue with a game?

There's no way I could forget you Lotus!

It looks like you have an integrated video card. In the BIOS you can assign more system memory to it. That maybe a solution.

I had a similar problem on my old computer. I got a DX error message after playing a game that used DX7. My computer had DX9 so after trying all kinds of things I finally "ran" the DX to see what it said and it showed I had DX7 not DX9 installed!

I went into other Casual games and played then I shut my computer off and DX9 was back installed. It was very strange and every so often after that when a game wouldn't play and I got the same DX error message I found it showing DX7 installed not DX9. Again after going into different games it would come back and DX9 was back and I was able to play the game.

I suggest you check your computer and see what DX is actually running on your computer.

Whatever the cause of this problem, it is hard to believe it is a memory issue. "Display Memory: 128.0 MB"
The same error messages were obtained with other Radeon cards with even more video memory.

These errors occurred with the above systems reporting DirectX9.0c so that is not the issue. Installing (or maybe reinstalling) video drivers corrected the problem in one of the above cases.

Lotus, does DXDiag report the same errors when run immediately after turning on your computer when the computer is cold? If not, try cleaning dust out of the computer and check your video card for overheating.
