I`m curious. How easy is everyone finding the navigation in this game? I dont think I`ve ever been so dissoriantated(sp?) in an adventure and Ive been playing them for nearly 30 years (well maybe those random mazes were a bit worse:-)). As you may remember I struggled badly to find the old man then as soon as I have to find something else (dozen leg prostheses) I`m back to wondering about for hours. It`s a shame because I`ve really been looking forward to this game and it`s stopping me getting into it.

I love the map, that is once you find the place your looking for.
When I have to wander around looking for someone, sometimes it is not easy.

I'm working on the time line at Baker St. and have placed the stethoscope, and E. Long on the times indicated by the WT, but can't get the icon for Richardson. It says to go to his testimoney in Dialogs, which I did, but there is no sign saying Use this dia. as proof..In Docs. the sign was there, and the icons were placed on the board. What do I do?

You might need to remove one or two of your previous proof documents to make room. While in documents/dialogues, click on one of the proof tabs at top left, and you'll see a tiny x appear in the top right corner of the tab. Click the x, and that document will be removed from proof. You now have space to add another. smile

What on earth is the secret of the magnet puzzle? I just don't get it. Can't get the magnets to "pass over" one another. They keep getting zapped back to their respective holes.

You want one of the magnet to go from top left to bottom right.
The other you're controlling is to go from bottom right to top left.
At a point at the middle of the puzzle - they will meet and pass over each other. That is what is meant in the walkthrough.

They get zapped and return to the hole only if they touch the walls.

Hi MaG. The problem I'm having is manipulating the magnets. I assume you're supposed to click and drag them? It goes well, staying away from the bars and walls, but the WT says they pass over one another. Well, when I manuever them close enough to do that, they zap back to their original spots. How do I get them to pass, and get them to their proper places?

Yes - click and drag.

If you are in an area that is far from the wall, you can click on the space where the other magnets is located to pass over it.
As long as you are not touching the walls, you should not get zapped.

Hello. I'm at the house and have put the stretcher on the lift, sent it to Watson, and am have just finished fixing the trolley. The WT says to put the pieces of the stretcher together, etc., but I don't have it. Where did it go? Watson was outside the house when I emerged, and the stretcher is nowhere in sight.
Help!

Lazy Watson didn't pick it up, so go back inside the house and check the lift - the pieces will be laying there.

Thanks. Solved.
Now, I'm at the News Agency and think I've completed everything there. Have the crumpled letter, the blotter paper, which I used on the mirror, spoke to Wales.., found brown evelope with all the docs. There are no action icons left, but Holmes won't leave. Still needs more info. I can't find anything else. He has everything per the WT, I'm fairly sure. What am I missing?

Did you pick up the coins from Bulling's desk? Did you pick up the letter from the typewriter on the desk to the right of the Director's office? Re-read all new documents that you picked up, just to make sure.

Thanks, Rushes. It was the letter in the typewriter that I'd missed. Off and running, once again!

HI, I'm in the butcher shop with the creepy pigs heads. I have done and redone the experiments a gazillion times, and cannot get Experiment #2. No. 1 and 3 are correct, and lit green, but nothing is happening with No. 2. I've done it over and over, and tried every combo, but it's not happening. I'm assuming from Holmes' comments that knife No. 1 is the correct one, but he #3 might also be a possibility. Either way, I'm not hearing Elemntary! Any ideas?

Reset #2 pig head and try out all knives again, then select 2,3 & 4 knives, that should do it.

I'm in the area of Mitre Sq. where Katherine was killed, but I can't find the outline, and Holmes keeps remarking that they need a lantern. Well, the lantern's there and lit, so now what? I don't see a hand icon anywhere to investigate the body outline, but Holmes said this is the spot, etc. What do I do?
Gillann
The lamp had gone out, so I re-lit it, and found the outline.
