I've searched the GB site to try and find out how the two sequels to Penumbra Overture compare to the first one. I did see a post or two that complained about technical problems and glitches experienced with Black Plague.

Was this a generally experienced problem? I'm thinking about purchasing the collection, but I'm not sure if I should.

I did rather like Overture (the first game), but cannot find a lot of material on the sequels - I did read Loony4labs review of Black Plague... she seemed to more or less like it... but was not completely ecstatic about it....?

Did you search the DarkSide? I believe that's where the discussion may be.

Yes - I searched the entire site, but there was only a discussion about what to actually do in the game - you know, like a hints and tips thing, where someone asked what he/she should do next in the game.. ...and you're right, that might have been at Dark Side. Do you think the topic would be better off on that side?

As I recall the conclusion was that Penumbra Overture was more of an action game, while Black Plague was more of an adventure game, though with innovative "physics based" challenges and some very "dark" moments.

If you liked Overture, you would probably enjoy Black Plague.

I played Black Plague recently and don't recall having any problem with it. It is much like the first one except there are no dogs to fight. There is one worm that I didn't have much trouble getting by. There are some infected ones you have avoid. I liked it as much as the original. Make sure you use the patch. There is one spot I couldn't get by late in the game without the patch.

Thanks for your input. thanks

I have in the meantime managed to locate some more reviews, and apparently you cannot fight at all in Black Plague. All the reviews sound very positive, but I hate being completely helpless in a survival-horror type of setting.

On the other hand, I found the level of scariness quite managable with Overture, except that I hated the way your screen became distorted when your character becomes anxious. (Like a pulsing tunnel vision type of effect) It tended to give me a feeling of vertigo.

Does that also happen with Black Plague, Pokey, anyone?

If not, I think I'll definitely get the collection. If it does happen, I'll think on it a bit more. think wave

I don't recall that happening in Black Plague.
