I already played this one and I liked it quite a bit. I enjoyed the fact that you never searched through the same location twice. The only gripe I had with it is the fact that they put in those Spot the Differences puzzles. Those things are the bane of my existence, along with slider puzzles. I've never been any good at them.

All in all, a fun game. I'm glad they are making a series of them.

Downloading now (had to milk my cows, etc.) and I also have problems with find the diff and slider.
Hoping there are no slider in this game. Spot the difference is at least tolerable, slider impossible.

I don't remember there being any slider puzzles in this game, so you're safe, NYLady.

I love Spot the Difference puzzles and it sounds like a good storyline, will use my monthly credit on this one.

I live about a 3-hour drive away from Bodie, so this game interested me for that reason alone. I also like spooky games. Unfortunately, (at least on my monitor), this was one of those games where I was well on my way to developing a headache after a few minutes due to the poor graphical quality/fuzzy graphics.

So, no sale here.

Is that because of the resolution of the graphics or because of the screen moving around? I haven't tried it yet, but in the Big Fish "Watch Video" it shows the screen moving around.

I did the demo and don't remember the screen moving. It is sort of grainy. They have flies you have to click on for extra hints. For some reason I did have a hard time seeing the flies.

I absolutely love the game and the graphics on my computer were crystal clear. Maybe your graphics thingie needs an update or something.

I haven't had this much fun since the Edgar Allen Poe Conspiracy.

Has voice, and suspenseful music and the objects are fairly easy to find (at least so far.)

I wish there were more hints... not that I need them yet, but I feel more secure with more in the bucket.

All in all, I will buy this one fast before it sells out. rotfl

The graphics are grainy, Jenny. I've got a CRT monitor with a good graphics card and a friend of mine has an LCD with a very good graphics card, and her experience is the same. The graininess is most notably in the HOG screens, and since that's where you spend most of your time in this game, it's what put me off.

I'm glad that this isn't the case for everyone. smile

How interesting that a game was made about Bodie. I went there a lot as a kid, and I remember reading about the supposed curse (if you take any artifacts from the area). Our car broke down there once and I was positive it was due to supernatural reasons.

So sorry Marian. I can't imagine why yours is grainy. I guess it's hard for the game people to make a game that all the different types of systems can handle. Every now and then a great game comes out that everyone is raving and talking about and I can't get it to play on my system.

There are so many good ones out there you'll soon find another good one I'm sure. Still I am sorry you can't enjoy this one.

It's nice to know there really is a Bodie... I thought it was a fictional place.

Bodie was a very busy mining town for a while.

Here's some photos of Bodie today if anyone wants to see them. I have ghost town photography websites bookmarked. lol

Love the game so far. I visited Bodie more than a few times over the years. It's a neat place. The game has a pretty accurate depiction of it. You used to be able to actually walk into ALL the buildings. I think I even have a picture of my Dad (who was a preacher) standing behind the pulpit in the church. Fond memories. LOVE the graveyard and glad the game has that in it.

No problems seeing stuff on my screen, but then I'm used to finding 'shapes' not colors with my color-blindness. Off to play!

I won the game and really was sorry to see it end. I love the ending and glad there will be sequels. I love the voice overs also.

I have vista 32 Nivida 8800 graphic card and had no problem with seeing the graphics, sorry others are having problems.

I do suggest to find the hidden objects on the tombstones as well as the flies you should crank up your brightness on the resolution. Also for the spot the difference mini games some were so tough I just clicked each spot in a row tracing the drawing until I found it. wink I did the same thing to find the flies if they were not easily spotted. I learned one trick always look right above the entrance door, but don't click to enter it. Many times the flies hang out on the door frames and especially window frames. Few times in a bush.

There are o 3 different mini games that must be won the jigsaw puzzles on the tombstones, finding the hidden objects on the tombstone, and spotting the difference.

I agree with NYlady I hate slider puzzles. mad

EDIT..............Remember you can't enter the house without at least 1 hint. You are only allowed 2 hints. The reason you need 1 hint at least is because after you use that 1 hint in the house looking for items, just wait 2 minutes and the game gives you another hint. I don't see why 2 minutes of our life has to be wasted waiting for the hint meter to refill, but that is the way the game designer made the game.

I have an LCD myself and I too thought the screens were grainy; bad enough I was put off after only 10 minutes.

I was disappointed after reading so many raves about this game I was looking forward to another Octoberfest purchase - but not today duh

I also felt *lost* about where to go next. I kept looking for the blue light to guide me? No, not for me. Pity.

So many games, so little time.

Sorry your having problems, I didn't have any problems with graphics looking grainy. Must be different video cards. I had the blue light guide me easily to where to go next.

A review of this game just went up on Gamezebo, and the reviewer also talks about dark, grainy, blurry objects. I guess an awful lot of us need a different video card and/or monitor. :pumpkin:

I did not have any problem with grainy looking graphics. I'm sure sorry to hear that so many have. Pretty much ruins an otherwise fun game for a lot of people.

Unfortunatley the awful graphics of this game ruined it for me. There are so many hidden object games to choose from now with lovely crisp and clear graphics I can afford to be choosy and I chose not to buy this game.

Has anyone played this game? I can't understand about the flies for hints. I have 2 flies but can't get any more for more hints even though I never use any. Anyone?

Carla, there is a link to the walkthrough on BigFish in the first post. Here is a quote from it:

Quote:
Flies and Hints
You start with 2 hints at the beginning of the game. You can only earn extra hints by collecting flies BEFORE you enter a new location.

You will earn an extra hint for each 3 flies you collect. You will only be able to accumulate a total of 6 flies per location if you used all your hints in the last round.

If you did not use all your hints at the end of the last round, the amount of flies you can collect will depend on the amount of hints you had left over. For example, if you had 1 hint left over you will only be able to collect 3 flies outside the house. If you had no hints left over, you will not find any flies outside the house.

To use a spider hint, click on the spiders inside the bowl.

You have to wait 2 minutes for your hints to recharge if you used up all your spider hints.

Hey BET,
Thanks for doing this. I should have looked better than I did. I guess I overlooked it.
I read the the walkthrough but there are still no flies. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the game as someone says that worked for them. Not!! Any more suggestions?

Lets see if someone else that has played can answer. I have the game but haven't had a chance to play yet.
