sierra,

I replayed:
1. Up at crowsnest - down to deck.
2. Tell Elaine to fight LeChuck.
3. Get keelhauled and get keys.
4. Up the crowsnest - down to deck again.
5. Open the barrel cabinet with keys.
6. Get keelhauled again and hits door.
7. Place door over barrel.
8. Get beat up to crowsnest - down to wheel house.
9. Click on rip at sky and cannon below.
10. Get beat up again until the door-barrel aka seesaw.
11. Tell Plunder Bunny to light the cannon.
12. Click on 'door'over barrel. In a second or two, he walks on door.
LeChuck arrives and jumps on door.

I have a saved game above the cannon, if you want.

I'm stuck at 8 and 9. Up in the crowsnest, I can click on the rope and get the wheelhouse message, but I can't find it to get down there. I can't see any rip in the sky, so I'm missing that part in the series of moves also. Woe is me, I mean, poor Guybrush, he is really taking a beating!

Yes - the rope is how to get to wheelhouse. You're ok.
Then just click on the cannon - you don't need to be there. You will stay at the wheelhouse.
The rip is at top right and is not necessary to proceed.

I still can't get to the wheelhouse. All I see is the rope going from the crowsnest to the upper left corner of the screen. I click anywhere on the rope and get the message about the rope leading to the wheelhouse and the scene changes so that the rope is now going from the crowsnest to the lower left of the screen but I can't click again before LeChuck shows up. There is a point when I can see down to the deck where Elaine is fighting right when Guybrush stands up and I get the cursor, but I don't know if there is anything to click there. I can't find anything except the rope to the upper left. Should I click on something there besides the rope? I don't see a cannon or a rip or at least I don't recognize anything that looks right, and my cursor doesn't highlight anything except the rope. Maybe I need to go to an earlier save, one before I asked Elaine to fire the cannon? Could that be the problem?

To love is to be happy with!

I'm sorry - I thought I mentioned to Use the hook on the rope strung from the crowsnest to wheelhouse.

I'm back again, out of the frying pan and into the fire! I used the hook, never, ever would have thought of it, obviously or I would have done it sooner. Guybrush was shot out of the cannon and through the rip to the crossroads. Morgan is there, but unfortunately, so is LeChuck. I tried to save at this point, but the game won't let me, so it's back to the crowsnest. Okay, I need to do something and quick, but what?

Remember what the Voodoo Lady advised, what Galeb stated LeChuck did and what Morgan did for sacrifice for Guybrush.

You have something that still holds you to the mortal world.

I did it! It's hard to believe, but I actually, really and truly, made it to the end of the game. In fact, I went beyond the end of the game and there was the Voodoo Lady with a message that hints at maybe another Tales of Monkey Island 2 will be made some time in the future. The Voodoo Lady shows up at the very end of all the credits, which I watch as a way to say goodbye or whatever to a game that I have enjoyed playing and feel sort of sad, but happy too, that it has ended. I can't say that this was my favorite chapter, but in its own way, in spite of all the battering that Guybrush and I went through, it was worth playing.

And now it is time to say goodbye to the Hints Forum and to give my heart-felt thanks to MaG and everyone who helped. Gee, this is also part of the game for me that made the whole gaming experience so extra special and I'm sad and happy here, too!

"Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!"
