I wrote the location in the mail for XP:

In XP the save folder is in: C:\Documents and Settings\computer's namer\Application Data\Games\sherlock holmes versus jack the ripper\save

As for other OS, you might need to do a search.

we have Vista. My husband in stalls saved games but he can't find it for Vista. Do you know where it is? He did a search but no luck frown

Jen, I'd suggest checking your settings to ensure that it shows hidden files & folders.

This is the procedure for XP, but hopefully it won't be too different for Vista:

Open your Documents folder. From the top toolbar, select "Tools".
Select "Folder Options", then "View".
You may then need to scroll down a little until you see "Hidden files and folders". Be sure that the box for "Show hidden files & folders" is checked.
Confirm and exit out.
Then try searching for the save folder again.

I decided to start all over again. I'm at the part where I am making a timeline with Long and Cardosh . I need to move Cardosh in his garden to a new time but it won't move. This is the second time this has happened. Why? What can I do?

Just to verify:

Do you have the testimonies of Long and Cadosch in documents?
If not, the paper might not have been pieced together completely.

Can you see the text at bottom right of the document page?

Also be sure that Holmes has actually prompted you to move Cadosch to his new timeslot. Everything needs to be moved in a precise order as instructed by Holmes, otherwise the problem of the type you are describing will occur. Double check if any other icon on the timeline will move.

Yes I have both documents. I also verified everything the WT said to.

Best to go back to a save game just before starting this puzzle and replay through, listening out each step of the way for Holmes' instructions. Leave as much room as you can around each of the icons you move on the timeline, so they don't become tangled up with one another. luck

I put the figures exactly where the WT says to so they are a bit close together

Yes, but you can place them higher or lower on the bar so they are spaced out that way but still at their correct times. If you put them all on the same level then they overlap and it can be difficult to separate them when you need to.

Okay, I've started over but it's been quite a while so I've forgotten most of it. I'm at the point to determine the time of Annie Chapman't death and and have used the "use a proof' for some of the documents. Can someone tell me which ones are actually used "for proof" I have 2 that I don;t have. I hope you understand me

Jen

This is the "Select the proofs for analysis of the crime"?

In documents, select the Testimony of E. Long. Click the 'use this document as proof' at bottom of right page of the document.

In documents, select the Testimony of A. Cadosch. Click the 'use this document as proof' at bottom of right page of the document.

In dialogues, select the dialogues at the Police Station - Richardson's testimony. Click the 'use this document as proof' at bottom of right page.

Have fun.

I think the two you have left on the timeframe aren't related to documents or dialogues. If you have selected the correct 3 proofs as MaG listed above, you can now place the respective icons up on the timeline at the correct times. Once you've done that, you should then be able to complete the rest of the timeframe.

Do be sure that the icons you place on the top timeframe outline in green -- that is how you know you have placed them correctly.
