I'm playing the first Broken Sword. It's working fine but I'm having trouble saving a game. I'm doing it as the manual says, but it says unable to save to Program files/Broken Sword/saves. Any suggestions?

Try uninstalling it and reinstalling it to your My Documents folder instead of to Program Files. Windows XP SP2, XP SP3, Vista, and newer are all "protected" from changes to the Program Files Folder, which can prevent older games from making saves. The solution is to install the game somewhere like My Documents, which isn't "protected" the way Program Files is.
