Hi

I bought Din's Curse, actually preordered it and I downloaded it. The game is on my computer, I want to burn it to a disc or dvd. I have asked the company and they say I may do so. I prefer having a disc for a game in case I should need it. Can someone help me with instructions as to how to do it. I have Nero and I have a Vista Ultimate 32 bit.

Thanks

Hi SkeeterUk

I printed out the information that Jenny100 sent me with the link. I do not understand it and I have read it through several times. I have Nero Burning Rom, but have always just burned cd to cd, never from compter to cd or disc, so I am totally lost. ??

Thanks

Basically start nero burning rom (not smart start or whatever else just go to start/program files/nero and find nero burning rom. Once up click new then u got two windows left one is what is to be burned and the right one is your computer. So go browse ur comp on right window, find the main folder with ur game stuff in and click and drag the whole folder to the left window. At the icons at the top look for a red one near middle of screen but at top of screen it will be to start the burn so might look like a flame icon. click that, select ur speed and then start the burning. Can varify if you want but takes longer. If your not sure on your media ur burning to pick a low speed 4-6 are relativly safe speeds but if you bought some decent sony dvd-r media for instance select 16x speed if your drive supports it.

Just so u know the burn speed is nothing to do with read speed its just a a speed which burns to the cd or dvd.

I recommend spending some money on decent media and aim for cd or dvd -r ones as +r arnt as compatible or as good as -r. Sony, HP, etc are good brands dont go buying the cheapest of the cheap as they wont burn at the speed they advertise and be error free.

Oh and if the game is a iso image then just right click on the game.iso for example and click open with and find and pick nero burning rom. Then follow the prompts if any. Mainly its just pick speed then click on burn button at bottom of window ur on. Jobs a done. smile

The version of Nero that I have permits four ways to send data to a CD or DVD. You can make a data disk, a music disk, a video/picture disk, or copy one disk to another. Clearly in this instance, the goal will be to create a data disk.

So what should go on the data disk? You can't just copy over the directory the game created on installation. Most if not all games install themselves into your operating system to some degree. Without that installation, most games will not run.
You will need to save to the CD/DVD the installation package for Din's Curse you downloaded from the company site. This package, an .exe file, will permit you to reinstall the game as needed in the future. Be absolutely sure to also store on the CD/DVD any activation code you might need to enable the game!

Thanks so much, still have not tried it, but will do it tomorrow as my husband will help me, he hates compters, but is good at helping. I like the advice you gave me, I did not think of your last paragraph. Do you mind telling me what version of Nero you have, I have had mine for about six years and most likely need to update or buy another one???

Thanks

Maggie,

My version of Nero came with the DVD I bought. In fact that was one reason for choosing that particular DVD over others.
I have Nero Express 8 Essentials SE v8.1.1.1 which is the lowest level version in the 8 series, missing some features in the other two members. I'm sure that Nero has moved beyond my version.

I doubt that you will need to purchase a newer version unless you get newer hardware which your Nero does not support.

There's a second way to do it, use rewritable (DVD+RW) discs. You can format them and use them like a miniature harddrive. Just drag and drop files with Windows Explorer, no burning software needed, so it can be read on any computer. The main downside is the discs cost a lot more, about $2 each in small quantities. Also you'll have to manualy compress and decompress the files if you want that.
