Hi, Can anyone help please the game won't let me save, it would at first but now I get this message:

Code: The thread tried to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access.

See if running the game as administrator helps.
(Right-click the game exe, choose Properties, choose Run As Administrator).

If you have XP Home and don't get the Run As Administrator option, try the instructions on this page
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/305780

If you have an antivirus doing real time virus protection, try turning it off while you play.

If none of these suggestions help, you may have to try uninstalling the game and reinstalling into your My Documents folder instead of Program Files.

Hi, I have been away so only just had time to retry the game and it still won't save after a certain point. Does anyone know if there is a patch or anything that will cure this. Thanks Myrtle

There's a patch for the UK version of the game, but I don't think it fixes problems with saving. According to TAC's website, it's for crashing issues in XP.

http://www.filefront.com/5069510/keepsake-patch-16.zip

http://www.adventurecompanygames.com/tac/support/media/keepsake-patch-1.6.exe

Here's what the readme for the Filefront patch says:
Quote:
readme compiled by The Patches Scrolls; www.patches-scrolls.de

- Patch is now unified for all languages
- Uninstalling will no longer erase saved games
- Several Zak overlap problems fixed
- Walkthrough cheat with observatory fixed
- Added the mountain bottle world map when inside the mountain bottle
- World map crashing problems fixed
- ESC Key will now display the save & quit menu
- Added Advanced Options to disable EAX or sounds (for users experiencing crashes or a variety of issues)
- Crashes related to various text problems are now fixed
- Crashes at the laboratory are now fixed (French version)
- Install folder should now be located correctly (French version)

Thank you for the info about the patch. I think that I am going to have to give up on the game as it doesn't from what you have said seem as thought the patch would help. Thanks once again Myrtle

The game had a peculiar save system that overwrote previous saves automatically, keeping only the 8 most recent saves. (I think it was 8 -- it might have been 7) If Windows (or an antivirus) is blocking that annoying "feature" of the save system, that could cause a problem with making new saves.

Installing to a location other than C:\Program Files and/or running the game as administrator (right click and choose to run as an administrator) *might* help with that type of problem.
