Hello everyone.
I installed good ol' Syberia on my Win 7 32-bit machine. It would crash after a few mins. So I did the compatibility mode for Win XP SP2.

It went a little further, but now as I cross a bridge near the beginning of the game, it crashes every time.

Is there a patch so this game will run w/o crashes on Win 7. Anything special I can do?
I may have to get it at GOG, I suppose.

Thanks!

Cissy, I had no problems with either of the Syberia games on both my 32-bit and my 64-bit Win 7. Did you try uninstalling the game and reinstalling in XP compatibility mode?

Find the setup file in the game folder, right click and select Troubleshoot Compatibility. Just follow the prompts from there. See if that helps.

I have not tried installing with that compatibilty. I will do that. Also, I just recalled something during installation. A quick message popped up saying ActiveX 8 error...something like that. It disappeared and continued with it's install.

I will try as you suggest. I do know some people can run this game on Win 7 w/o any problems.

Thank you! I'll get back to ya smile

**that's odd. I can't find the setup.exe file. There's one for the Uninstall folder. I think I will uninstall, then reinstall. Hope I can do it that way. LOL
***update...still crashes at same point. If I could get past it maybe it would work. But for now, it's getting late, so I am done for the night.

Thanks!!

Yes, I got that same ActiveX 8 error message, but it blipped off and then I started and played the game with no problems at all.

If uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't help, I did find the setup file. I saw the one you did, but that isn't the right place to look for it - you have to look on the disk itself. When I right clicked on the drive with the disk in it and selected Open, the setup file was listed down towards the bottom of the list of files on the disk.

Yes, I found the setup file that way too smile However, it crashes at the exact same spot as before. Frustrating because I know it should run on my machine. I also tried with my dual monitors shut down to one only. Crashed in same place.

The first time, I installed the "medium" amount of space. This time I did a "full" install.

Anyway, we'll get it figured out. I've been in the mood to play my old games for the 3rd time. Finished the Myst serioes 1-3 and loved them.

****update. Well, butter my butt and call me a bisquit! I checked with Windows Update and found I had a video card update. I updated not that long ago, but there it was. My game is not crashing....so far. At least not at that spot. We'll see!!

Thank your efforts Draclvr
