Hi!
I installed this game and it runs ok but where the dialogue should be seen there is only blank spaces - in color. So it's like the words are there but blanked out. I am playing in the Junior detective mode.

That problem sounds like it could be related to your video card. What video card and driver version are on your computer?

Let me know if this is what you are asking...
(From my computer profile)
Display - NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420 (I think it's a built in)
and can't find where to get driver info
Thanks!

Yes, that's the video card. smile I don't know if Warnings at Waverly Academy would display properly with that video card or not. Someone here who knows more than I do will come along and be able to give you further information in a more knowledgeable way, but right now I would say that it's possible that your video card is too old for the game. Checking to make sure that you have the latest version of your video card drivers is a good idea, as well. If you aren't sure how to do that, someone here will be able to help you.

I'd tend to agree with Marian - the game requires a DX 9.0 Video card, and the MX 420 is only DirectX 7.0 compliant.

May I ask...
What video card can I get that will play, in general recent/current adventure games. This is outside my experience and wouldn't know what to upgrade with.
My processor is 1.67 g AMD Athlon XP
Thanks!

It depends on your hardware (motherboard expansion slots) as well as your power supply.

If this is an off the shelf type PC (Dell Optiplex, etc...) post the model number, we can look it up for you.

If not, you can obtain the Mobo info from utilities (like CPU-Z) but the power supply has to be documented, or physically looked at.

You can locate CPU-Z at the URL below:

This is a custom system. It was originally for office use; now I use it for gaming.
I downloaded Belarc and it says my main circut board is K7VM3 1.00.
Is that what you were asking?
Thanks
(processor 1.67 gigahertz,
Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2...)

Yes, that's it - it appears to be an ASRock motherboard, with 1 AGP expansion slot. Your choices of cards will be limited but depending on the type of games you play you still might consider upgrading. Most business PC's ship with fairly small power supplies, so you'll need to open the case and read the wattage on the label.

They look similar to this: (a 350 watt PSU)

Here's your mobo documentation -

The lowest end GeForce 6200 (low profile) AGP cards generally require a 250 Watt Power Supply - most business PC's have at least that much.

Newegg has several available - this one is fairly typical of the series -

JATON 3DFORCE6200Twin-LP GeForce 6200 256MB 64-bit DDR2 AGP 8X Low Profile Ready Video Card

It's not much (graphics wise) but it is DX 9.0c compliant, and more than twice the bandwidth of your integrated processor.

The best bang for the buck is a new PC - but, that's not always possible (and not nearly as much fun as upgrading) smile

Thanks! You are right, a new PC isn't in the cards right now, but I think I can swing a video card.
If you have anymore patience for this... IF I were to buy a "gaming computer", what is my best bet (one that doesn't cost a small fortune).
If you are not suppose to mention brands - maybe you could send me a message. I have been plagued with computer problems trying to play adventure games for years. Either I don't have the right "cards" or my drivers aren't right etc. One thing I've always had has been plenty of memory - ram - and short on knowledge about what to do!
Thanks.
