Hi:
Someone gave me this game unopened. All that is in it is a letter (that's suppose to be important in the game) & the disc.
Reading w/t by ronrob, it says manual is on the disc.
I inserted disc to download & nothing happens, na-da.
I see the initials of the game when I went to C Drive, but do not know what to do to get this game installed.
Could you please help me?

El

Edit ********
Just noticed the disc is under Devices With Removable Storage, not under C Drive.

Hi Cathy:
Just edited my message before I saw yours. I do not understand what you mean by "check for an exe file extension"? Please bear in mind, I am not very computer savy.

Find the game file, right click and look for a file called setup. It's been a couple of years since I played the game, but I do seem to remember having to start the game from the disk.

It won't be on your C drive because you haven't installed in yet from the disk. The letter in the game case will be needed during the gameplay.

Have fun, El! Although the game is fun, it is also very thought provoking. I really enjoyed it.

One more thing. The music is driving my nuts I already (says use keys 1 - 5 for music) tried clicking to get little to no volumn for it, but it still sounds the same.
Tried looking in manual & it says to go to set-up, but I don't seem to be able to find the window they show for the game setup.
Can anyone help me with this music problem?
I'd be truly grateful!

There may be an option... Click on your Start button (in the lower left and look for a Diamonds in the Rough folder. There may be a setup option there. It's been a long time since I've played this game.

Hi Cathy:
Thanks for the reply.

I went to game folder (under Programs) & looked at the Manual. It shows a box with resolutions, sound, music etc. Above this it stated:

2. S ETUP
You can setup the game by running the file winsetup.exe.
In most cases, the default setup options do not need to be modified:

Pray tell, what do they mean by "running the file winsetup.exe?

I went to Run on my computer & typed winesetup.exe but the computer said they could not find such a thing.

Would you possibly know how & where I can find this file to run?

Thanking you in advance.

El

The winsetup file should be in the games folder.

You can also contact the game developer, Alkis Polyrakis. He is a member here and the Atropos Studios website is http://atropos-studios.com/diamonds.html

If you haven't installed the game yet, there is a Setup file on the game disc that you need to run to install the game.
It's not called "winsetup" on the game disc.

So check your game disc for the Setup file and double-click it.

There is an autorun file on the game disc, but Microsoft has disabled autorun in security updates so you have to run the Setup file manually.
