Humidity + Hair.. UGH!
Up until a few days ago I was using IE8. Suddenly IE8 is eating CPU up to 100% and that there are 2 or 3 IE running on Task Manager.
I scanned with Norton, Spybot, and checked Spyware blaster. Nothing

My daughter suggested Firefox. Task Manager is only about 10 %

I "prefer" IE8. It's what I'm use to but I'm staying with Firefox till I know what's going on

Can someone help me out? Anyone have this problem? I just want to make sure that I'm not going crazy, that this is normal for PCs (IE8 eating CPU). I've Googled but there are about 1000 answers.

Anybody have a SIMPLE answer?

As far as I can tell, it's a bug in IE that needs fixing. Some people say it's a problem with anti-spyware programs writing to IE's blocked website list (e.g. clicking "immunize" in Spybot).

Other people say it is a matter of allowing certain unsigned drivers.

Apparently it is a problem that did not happen in earlier "beta" versions of IE8.

Someone on ***this site*** said

I didn't do anything, it just stopped. I quit using IE8 for a few days then
when I started using it again problem was gone.

That would be a simple answer, if it works for you. Just switch to Firefox for a couple of weeks, without trying IE8. Then go back to IE8 and see if it behaves.

It's most likely an installed add-on. On the IE Tool Bar, click Tools, Manage Add-Ons, and disable them one by one (restarting the browser each time).

If the problem resolves itself, leave the item disabled (you can re-enable the others after you identify the culprit).

I've had this same issue with Shockwave many times.
