I'm having a terrible time with this critter! Is there a special way to kill it? I'm shooting until I nearly run out of ammo, but it doesn't even faze him. Can he be killed by just shooting him? I have the shotgun and the pistols. I can only use one hand, so if there are special moves I need to make, I may be out of luck. I'd use a cheat if I knew how.

If he can be killed with my weapons, I'll keep trying.

Barb, from This Walkthrough:

Quote:
9. Hunted by Raptors and the T-Rex
Once you killed all six Raptors, the T-Rex makes its appearance. He attacked some of the Raptors and they storm panicking towards you. The first interactive sequence will ensue. You have to quickly press (only!) the buttons shown to you on-screen. Don't press them before they are shown.

The combination here is:

* Down (PC) / Circle (PS2)
to dodge the T-Rex attack
* Up (PC) / R1 (PS2)
to shoot at the Raptor
* Up (PC) / X (PS2)
to jump over the Raptor's carcass

With all raptors finished the T-Rex battle begins.

10. T-Rex Fight
Start shooting right away. Shoot at the huge dinosaur while retreating backwards and performing evasive side-jumps. You will notice that the T-Rex' energy bar is yellow-greenish and a red bar charges underneath. Once the red bar is fully charged the T-Rex will roar, giving you a moment and then attack fiercely. But at that moment he is also most vulnerable. You will need to perform the dodge-and-head shot move a couple of times, so I hope you are familiar with it by now. If not, you probably will be after this fight, however it will take longer. You may also want to look here: Moves & Enemies Keep the T-Rex locked on till you've performed the head shot! Depending on the Combat Mode you use, you might need to press the button for it - as there are many different systems and you might have reconfigured your key-layout, I leave it to you to find out, which it is. It is called "Combat Mode Toggle" in the controls settings, simply look it up in the menu!
Dodge
Once the T-Rex storms towards Lara stop shooting and when the screen becomes blurry wait for the arrows to show up/the image to freeze (not with all video cards) evade him by a roll to the side by pressing LEFT or RIGHT and ROLL. When he did not touch you, you have performed a successful dodge and can proceed to the head shot!

Head Shot
Do nothing for now. Grey circles will appear on the screen. Wait for them to focus on the T-Rex' head and turn into one big red circle (a sound will accompany it), then press SHOOT once to perform the head shot. Again the target has to be locked.

If you hit the target, the T-Rex will stumble into anything nearby. If you are close to one of the spiky roles or any rocky outcrops, he takes even more damage than dealt by the shot. Run towards the lighter spots on the ground before any of the (yet undamaged) spike rolls when the T-Rex is roaring when enraged to provoke him into one of the traps. (If you make him hit all three, it will be a short fight.)

Immediately resume shooting and this whole procedure will repeat itself till the T-Rex' health bar has run down.

Use as many medipacks as necessary, while fighting. It is not a difficult fight but it will take some time and patience.

On the left side by the temple lies another Small Medipack. Opposite, where the upper level of the valley is, lies some 50 Caliber Pistol Ammo. In a bush left of the two spike rolls you will find more 50 Caliber Pistol Ammo.

11. Interactive T-Rex Sequence
The combination here is:

* Down (PC) / Circle (PS2)
to dodge the T-Rex attack
* Up (PC) / R1 (PS2)
to shoot at the T-Rex

Thanks, Drac. It's nice to see him get killed, even if I can't do it! lol

Thank you, Looney. I have that WT, I just can't do what it says to do!

Barb I had to get a saved game to get passed that part. I tried for a whole week and still could not figure out the key combination and the correct timing to kill it. It fact it ruined my interest in the game. It was almost 3 months before I gave it another try and finally downloaded the save game from that Tomb Raider site. I thought Anniversary was the hardest of all the TR games.

L4L next time I play I will try those directions. I did manage to kill the Rex but it took me forever. I had to use a save from Stella for the Centaurs. They much harder to destroy.

Thanks, JB and Gerry. I was starting to feel kind of dumb that i couldn't do it. I'm glad I'm not the only one who had problems with it. I tried to use that save from Stella, but we couldn't figure out how to do it. Can anyone give me directions to using that save?

I really like the game & don't want to quit. Gerry, did you kill him without using that Adrenaline Dodge? If I HAVE to, I don't think I could. Anyway, I'm going to get some of the other TR games. Are they all good?

Barb, "Underworld"" was the best one in my opinion. And the best part was there were no bosses to deal with. lol Underworld is in my top 5 favorite A/A games of all time. I also loved Legend, Underword picks up where Legend ended if i remember correctly.
Also IMO only, "Angel of Darkness" was downright awful. I had lots of problems with the controls. They were so bad I could not even get through a few hours of play.

With the exception of the horrible controls for riding the motorcycle, I absolutely loved Underworld.

Barb, If I am not mistaken it would be best to play Legend first. Great game but it does have hard to beat bosses. I used saves on the ones I could not beat. Underground continues where Legend leaves off. So you may not know what is going on with the story. Maybe someone will come along and verify this for me.
About the T-Rex, I remember asking the kid across the street from me to try and kill it for me. He tried for about an hour and got sick of it. And he is great at games.

Barb I killed him without using the adrenaline dodge. If you stand on a rock you can shoot at him and he won't attack. If you stay kind of under Rex and close to his side you can shoot him and he does not see you. But you will use up a lot of fire power.
Barb download the Saved Game to your desktop and open the the zip file. Open your TR game file and drag the game into the folder. Close all the folders. Open the game and look in the list of saves where you will find the save from Stella. Click on it to open and start playing.
You will be able to tell her saved from yours by the older date. Hiope this helps.
I loved all the TR Games and would recomend all of them! Stick with Anniversary even if you have to use Stella's saves. You will get better at this game with time and practice. Using saves for the impossible "kills" will make the rest of the game worth it. Wonderful environments and beautiful scenery are not to be missed!
Having completed the game you will find the second time around is more fun because you have mastered the controls and understand what you are doing. Good Luck with the rest of the game!

I finally got the save installed! I was nice to see the T-Rex lying dead at my feet even if I didn't kill him myself! lol I've had fun advancing through the game. But now I have another problem. I'm doing the Tomb of Quolopec. I've pulled all 3 levers, but the final gate doesn't open. I don't know what else to do. It shouldn't matter what order I do them in, does it? I hope it's not a bug.

I'm going to try to get all the TR games. Will the older ones run on XP? If not, I have an old laptop with Win 98.

Barb I believe when you open each gate you should see a cut scene showing the gate opening? Did you see this for all of them?
I've run all the older games on XP. I used a fix from a post on GameBoomers for the 1st couple and they ran fine.

Barb, I saw a video on Youtube on how to do those gates....it might help?

I also just read that the next Tomb Raider won't be called Tomb Raider and will be download only and more arcadish.

How can it be Tomb Raider if it's not called Tomb Raider? Where did you read this?

Hi ya Gremlin, they are dropping the Tomb Raider part of the title and just using Laura Croft in the title. I read it in Game Informer. wave

If Game Informer couldn't even get Lara Croft's name right, I wouldn't put much credence in the rest of the article wink
