I've done a bit of shopping over the last year for a few friends and that sounds like an excellent deal to me. I was able to get an Acer and an HP computer for a similar price last year for two of them. One friend got the dv6t model which is the one previous to your dv6z and she absolutely loves hers. If I remember correctly, she paid $600 for hers and it only had a 1 GB HD 4560 dedicated graphics card.
If shipping is included, that makes it an even better deal. But it wouldn't hurt to check with Dell just in case they have any good deals. I know I never happened to hit one when my friends were wanting to buy a laptop.

Thanks, Guys........
I bought it, also got a two year warranty with free pickup and delivery for $99 more.
My existing laptop, HP, (of course) went phooey on me about a year and a half ago and is just collecting dust. For some reason, after a year of great activity, all of a sudden it insists on a security password before starting up. I had NOT put any password or security limits on it, as I didn't use it on line. Tried all kinds of things, & got nowhere. My ;puter guru from across the street couldn't get anywhere either. Even took it to a HP Tech, no luck.
So I will probably be back for some instructions as to how to set it up properly in order to avoid any problems.
Love Y'all

I'd definitely have done what Inland suggests... just restore it to new OS condition.

Sounds like a plan... BUT???? How do you restore anything when you only get access to a black screen with white letters, that will do nothing but demand a nonexistent password.

For all of my HP computers, when it's booting up and BEFORE it gets to the screen you're talking about, you get a black screen with the option to go to the operating system or do a System Recovery. Going to to the OS is the default, so you have to quickly arrow up or down to System Recovery. If you don't see it, my HP will allow me to access the system recovery options by continually tapping F11 as soon as you turn the computer on until the recovery options appear. This link has a bunch of info for using System Recovery on HP laptops... HP System Recovery You'll need to scroll down a ways to get to the info that might help you.

Draclvr, I think I have qualified for the Booby Prize of the year.
My XP Laptop is right now at 68% recovery.
The first time I made a try at it, it took me over 20 minutes just to figure out how to get it open, and another 6 to 7 minutes to find the ON button. After that I did your F-11 Tapping, the pointer arrow came on, gave the PC recovery choice a tap, and off it went.
Question ?? Why on earth did all those (so-called) computer experts not know this option? I spent many, many hours jabbing away at keys, but no-one ever said to try F-11.
I think I will go back to the shop in Davie and demand a refund. $$ After all, it was only in 2008 that they fumbled the job. Rirrrrghtt.....
.............................. ................................
It just finished the recovery action. Normal start no good, SAFE Start, no good, tried "Last known good configuration" -No Go. Info now says Windows/SYSTSM32config/SYSTEM is missing or corrupt, and try the original Set-Up CD-ROM.
Well, at least the ^%$#*#@ thing is not dead. Maybe I will actually end up with a spare XP 'puter.
Can't really complain too much about buying the new one, would eventually have to have one some day anyway.

Well, at least you tried the System Recovery. I'd definitely check into Jenny's suggestion as new laptop hard drives are pretty cheap at Newegg. Not sure what to say about the "experts" that looked at your computer...
I'm betting you're loving your new computer anyway!

Man oh man, am I ever getting a crash course in HP Laptops. Let's see now,
First, I didn't do a System Recovery, the option wasn't there, but I did the PC Recovery. That's when it said "Windows/SYSTSM32config/SYSTEM is missing or corrupt, try the original Set-Up CD-ROM.
As it didn't come with a Set-Up CD-ROM. (said it wasn't needed as the system had it's own program"
But I DID make my own backup when I first turned it up, four DVD's worth. So now I have that, running, it said it would probably take all night. Good thing I have nothing else to do, and can stay up as long as it takes, then sleep all day tomorrow. Jenny, it's a HP Pavilion don't have the model # close, but her are the specs--
Processor Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology featuring Intel Core Duo processor T2400; 1.83GHz
Operating system Genuine Windows XP Media Center
Memory 2048MB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM; Max supported 2048MB
Graphics card NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 with 128MB discrete + 128MB shared
Hard drive 120GB (5400RPM) SATA Hard Drive [gigabyte is defined as 1,000,000,000 bytes, accessible capacity may vary]
Primary CD/DVD drive Double-layer DVD?R/RW Super Multi drive with LightScribe
Display 15.4" WXGA High-Definition BrightView Widescreen (1280x800) Display
Wireless connectivity Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection & Bluetooth
Digital media 6-in-1 integrated Digital Media Reader for Secure Digital cards, MultiMedia cards, Memory Sticks, Memory Stick Pro, SmartMedia or xD Picture cards
External ports 3 Universal Serial Bus (USB) 2.0, 1 Headphone out w/SPDIF Digital Audio, 1 microphone-in, 1 notebook expansion port 2, 1 IEEE 1394 Firewire (4-pin), 1 Consumer IR
Communications Integrated 10/100Base-T Ethernet LAN (RJ-45 connector); High speed 56k modem
................
I don't even use the extra stuff it's loaded with, but the kid across the street really drooled about it. Bought it after I got out of the hospital primarily for the Graphic Card, and wasn't moving around much.
................
WOOOO - HOOOO, time to put in another recovery disk.
I really really hope this time it takes, if not I will feed it to the monster under the bed. It likes really crunchy stuff.

If this doesn't work, I still think Jenny's suggestion of contacting HP for the $15 disk would be worth the effort.
