Is this the right forum to ask about the games that are just about solving puzzles? I guess the Jewels and Luxor games would be in this category. I'd like a game that I can load, and then play in an off-and-on sort of way. There is no shortage of puzzle games, but where could I look to get some short summaries of what various puzzle games were about?
"Find-the-missing-stuff" games bore me. The Incredible Machine was wonderful. LOVED the PC game, Safecracker (2006). Tetris was fun, but too stressful. I played a bit of DaVinci's Secret as a trial and enjoyed it.
ADDITIONAL INFO: I'd like to avoid the pressure of timed gaming, if possible. Don't need the stress.

Have you played Machinarium, Puzzle Bots, Azada (the first one) Tigers Eye (it's a HOG but mostly puzzle). Browse through BigFish and watch the videos. The trials are free also. Ana

I'm so new to this that I don't even know what the acronym HOG means. LOL
I'll check out Big Fish, since they have some videos and trials. That should help me find a game.
Yes, heard of Machinarium, and it is on my list, but I really want a sequential sort of puzzle game, too, not necessarily an adventure.
Thanks, Ana!

Hi Reenie! Have you looked at the World Mosaic games? They're kind of like math based soduko. No symbols, just number patterns (and fun little stories to go along with them). I'm playing World Mosaic - Fairy Tales right now and loving every minute!

I agree with Ana on "Tiger Eye". If you like alot of puzzles in your games, then this one's definitely for you.

What about Azada 1 & 2?
And Rooms may prove interesting. {if you like that, there are are # of "Escape The Building" type puzzle games.}

Azada 2 is nothing like the first one. For a puzzle game, I would stick with the first one. Mystery of the persian carpet and The Fall Trilogy (made by the same company as SafeCracker) is great too. Also there is Magicama and other great puzzle games by Mulawa DReaming that can be found here. You can find reviews for these in the review section. Ana

Ana, this has been SO helpful! I went to Big Fish and did a few free trial games. One game was enough fun that I played my full hour, so I'll probably buy it. Two others lost my interest after a few minutes. So that is an excellent site for finding out if you will enjoy a game before buying it!
I will take a look at the Persian and Fall games, since you mentioned them.
KB50, I played one of the "Escape the..." games, and while I enjoyed what puzzles there were, I am bored by the HOG concept. I will take a look at Rooms, though.

Might also want to try Eden's Quest: the hunt for Akua

Reenie, Have you ever tried Zenerchi? As mentioned above, Rooms, Azada 1&2. Somorost 1 & 2 and Manchinarium are interesting ~ Carol

I'm just about to finish another one I would consider for this category:
Hamlet, or the last game without MMORPG features, shaders, and product placement
Big Fish has it
