Im enjoying the game, but I must say that it is a little too easy...and the hints given in the game make it exremely easy...

Click to reveal..
when he needs to get the red light bulb...he says .."I saw some outside mrs bibas cafe"

that was just one example....I didnt think they needed to go to these extremes.....
This will probably be one of the first games i will not need a walkthrough for.....sigh...

Black Mirror 1 was a lot more challenging....which I enjoyed...this one seems like they are catering to a beginner adventure gamer

YOu are still in the first chapter right? Perhaps you will find it more challenging as you move along.

I too was wondering if this was going to be too easy, yet VERY enjoyable. Glad to hear that it gets harder, how stupid does that sound LOL!

I enjoyed it.... But, at the same time, I felt somewhat let down. Don't get me wrong, it was a great game, but it did not nearly measure up to the first one. I LOVED that one, and kept it and I'm thinking I may play it again since I'm done with BM 2. This one is not a keeper for me. I think what disappointed me is that I had high hopes of actually being at Black Mirror Castle for the majority of the game, and instead was there at the castle for such a brief period. I really wanted to explore the same areas I looked at before, and it just looked so different now, and most of the places we could visit before were now off limits. (You know, like how in Dark Fall Lost Souls, we pretty much "revisited" the same place as the previous game, and it was the same, yet so very different)

So, if it were a stand alone game, I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more than I did as a sequel to my most favorite and beloved game that I've ever played in the past 11 years and some 155 games.

The story itself was great from start to finish. I, personally had issues with Darren's accent. It was a bit grating to me--kinda reminded me of someone trying to do an imitation of the Kennedys, but maybe that is just me.

Anyway, I'm still hoping there will be a BM 3, but I probably won't be quite as excited as I was for this one to come out.

Dmtomchick, I've never played the original - couldn't get it to run on Win 7, and have read that the download version has its own issues - and I definitely enjoyed the Black Mirror Castle section the most. It felt like there was a lot of interesting history there, and I wished more of the game had taken place in that location. How did the castle look different? What were the off-limit areas? I'm really curious now. smile

You're going to hate me! I just finished and I thought the story and the graphics were just fine and dandy! It got a bit tedious having to keep clicking on items to find out if they were useful. The sound was quite bad as others have pointed out. The puzzles were not really my cup of tea...sliders and lock picking Ouch! It was a very long game, so I felt I got more than my money's worth.....BUT I really struggled with the accents. Most of the locals in England sounded like they were raised by Dick Van Dyke and went to the "cor blimey guv" school of elocution. My biggest gripe is with Darren, the so called hero. I found him rude and completely objectionable... What a horse's backside (euphemism!)It filled me with deep joy every time

lol

To be fair to Darren, the visually impaired war veteran was pretty rude to him too. wink

Hopefully he'll be politer in BM3.

"To be fair to Darren, the visually impaired war veteran was pretty rude to him too."

No joke. <g> Ed, the blind guy, was like Darren might be if he doesn't lose the chip on his shoulder. For the most part, Darren was only a horse's backside to people who pretty much deserved it, IMO. Obviously, I didn't mind him.

And I liked the first part of the game, even the picture developing, which was not nearly as much of a pain as it has been in other games. I seem to recall doing that in one of the AGON games and really, really hating it.

So, okay, Darren leads you through it. <g> Fine by me!

I thought the police woman was very nice to him, but he still treated her like something he'd scraped off the bottom of his shoe. "Horse's backside" was very polite considering how annoyed I was at his bad manners. I know it's fictitious, but surely one is supposed to be cheering on the hero. PS Traveler, what is <g>? I bet it's really obvious when you tell me!

I have no clue why I'm defending a fictional character but while Darren wasn't very nice to the police woman, he was in something of an emotional stew right then; if someone I cared for had just been thrown in the slammer for murder and nobody would believe me when I said she was innocent, I'm not real sure I'd be nice either. <g>

Oh, about that <g>. I'm an old hand at the lists, mostly dog related, where plain text or html is the standard and there are lots of abbreviations most everyone knows and uses, abbreviations like lol for 'laughing out loud' and <g> for 'grin'. UBB is totally strange to me and I hate emoticons anyway so when I want to grin, I put <g> in my posts.

<eg> (or evil grin),

Gil.

Traveler, I completely agree with you, and I never had a problem with Darren. Most of the time I liked and empathized with him. And even when I didn't, I enjoyed the fact that he was not necessarily a perfectly likable character all the time. It made him more realistic and flawed, and I like playing flawed characters from time to time. Like Gabriel Knight, for example. smile

(By the way, I hope you'll forgive me for liking emoticons. grin )

Remember how Glottis wouldn't stop making car noises? Every time you walked Manny through that screen you'd hear Glottis making those noises.

Grim Fandango is one of my all time favorite games to play. Glottis and Manny are my favorite characters in a video game. Vroom Vroom.
