This might be in the wrong forum, but I thought it might get the most notice here

I'm fairly sure there's some Gabriel Knight fans out there. I've played all three games (and am always hoping for that elusive fourth).

My OS is Windows 7. Recently, I thought I'd give it a shot and I popped in Gabriel Knight: The Beast Within. I thought I might have problems with the installation, let alone game-play itself, given that it's so old and I'm trying to load it up in Windows 7.....but no problems!! I didn't have to "tweak" anything or jump through any technical hoops to get it to play! It came off without a hitch. Boy it was great playing one of the best (IMHO) adventure games of all time.

And then something came to me.....

I had remembered that at one time, Jane Jensen (the author of Gabriel Knight) had done novelizations of the first two Gabriel Knight games n book form. I thought, Heck, I'd like to try it out and read them.

And, I kinda figured these books would be a "hard-to-find" item.

And they are.

Not too far from where I live, I was able to pin one of them down in a used book store. I now have me a paperback copy of Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers.

But, The Beast Within? That's another matter entirely....

I can't seem to find a copy of that in and retail store around me, whether new or used.

I went to Amazon.com, and also Barnes & Noble.com, and sheesh.....kinda pricey!! Here's what I found:

Soooooo......do any of you have any "insider" information on how to get a copy of The Beast Within in book-form without paying an arm-and-a-leg?

Pez with your hunt. I must say that in my opinion The Beast Within is my favorite computer game ever. The entire Gabriel Knight series was just so well done and the plot was excellent. I have heard rumors of additional Jane Jensen games in the works and I really hope that she does treat us again.

I have the books and all of the games, and I'm not trading or selling at this time, but I'm sure if you keep looking you should find them. The going price is between $20. & $30. used. The orginal sets in big box new are about $150.
We do have Grey Matter coming up this fall sometime, as I understand.
I have another book of Jane Jensen's Dante's Equation.

And GreyFuss: I checked out your link, and the prices are pretty similar to what I found at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, e-bay, etc. 20 to 30 dollars!!

Well, I put a post up over in The Trading Post; maybe I'll get a "low ball" offer there.

Who knew the paperback book would be so pricey?!?! I've got all three Gabriel Knight Mysteries on CD ROM, and you'd figure they'd be more expensive!!

I found Gabriel Knight The Beast Within at www.half.com for $21.48. It's not a whole less than $30 but just thought you might want to go over and have a look.....good luck.

I didnt even know she had written any other novels. Got nominated for some prize or other.

I found "Dante's Equation" at a bookstore a couple of years ago - $15.95 new for a large format paperback. It's a very interesting sci-fi book.
"The Sins of the Father" I got as a bonus in a twin-pack of the 2 games: Sins of the Father and The Beast Within.
