Just got Trine today. It was only A few bucks at gogamer.com's 48 hour madness sale.
Any way what a gorgeous game.
I just started it and am playing the wizard and I get a command to draw a square using the left mouse button. This is not mentioned in the manual and I don't understand it's purpose. Nor do I see anything happening when I press the mouse button. Does anyone have an answer for me? help

Your Welcome. There is a patch on the first link I posted. I hope they will help you. It looks like an interesting game.

DL'd the patch. The WT still does not say what the "Draw a Square" using the left mouse means.

A silly question JB. Are you holding down the mouse button while your trying to draw something ? If your using the wizard have you tried to use his magic or a spell to draw ?
From the walkthrough this is what it says....

Use your conjure block spell and
create a block that can sit on the first block.

Is that what you mean by draw something ?

Cathy I have not been back to the game as I am trying to finish Psychonauts first, and then I will concentrate on Trine. Thanks so much for your help.

The ongoing joke in the game, is that the Wizard just can't learn that elusive fireball spell.

So, he's stuck with spells to draw boxes and platforms and to levitate and move items.

To draw a box, simply left click and move the mouse up, right, down and then left, drawing a square with the mouse movements. The bigger you draw the square, the bigger the box (to a point).

The boxes are stackable and good for jumping up on high ledges. They can also be conjured in mid air and dropped on the heads of your enemies, they can be put into pits of spikes so you can jump across, they can be put in water to jump across and they are also sometimes needed to activate pressure switches/plates on the ground.

The more you level up, the more boxes you can draw and have on screen at a single time.

I played around a bit with Trine last night. I was now able to draw a square. The problem was I was trying to draw them on the ground but needed to draw them in mid air. crazy I now get it. lol This game is really a nice platform game with gorgeous graphics and great puzzle solving.

Yes and the wizard can levitate and move them where ever he needs them.

There are movies of the game play on you tube.

I'm playing this game too. You can draw three or two sizes of boxes. Sometimes a quick circle also makes a box for me. You can not make a box if you are out of your energy though. Good luck

I am sick of this game. When I have to quit I lose all the progress I've made because I have not gotten to a checkpoint. You can save but it appears it has no purpose because when you continue it starts you at the last checkpoint, not where you saved. I refuse to do all I have accomplished for a third time. It's getting uninstalled and getting sold at our community market. mad

Awwww JohnBoy, that is so aggravating. I will never understand why developers insist on using Save Points....I generally avoid games with that set up too as I never know when I'm going to have to quit.

Hopefully, your next game will be more to your liking. luck

Awwww,

So you actually CAN save at check points? God and I start all over from the chapter's beginning once I quit frown

Also there are other things I dislike about the game. One of the things is that every time I start the game, I have to change the controls to custom1 because they always start with default.

Hopefully you'll a find a better game next time. Good luck from me too.

Gave it another shot and made it to the next level. Now I am hoping it starts me there and not at the very beginning again.

Update: I have made it to the fourth level eek and the save is starting me at the correct check point. happydance

On some of these games, when you reach a new level play a bit into that new level because if you don't and quit right at the new level, the game will revert to the previous level and you must play that one all over again. Like you finish level 2, the game will save but play a bit into level 3 and then save and quit. Devil May Cry 4 does that.

I am on Chapter 6 and cant kill the beast with the glowing blue back. I watched the video on youtube and the gamer used the knight to kill it but I still don't know how he did it. Is the secret in the blue back?

Well here's an update. I've made it all the way to level 14. There are 15 levels to the game. Level 14 takes on a whole new dimension in difficulty. I can't last for 5 minutes on this level. Watched the youtube WT video twice and can get to the beginning of the second floor but I can't seem to get any further. However I really thought this was a great platform game and I will keep trying to beat it. But it is getting frustrating.

JB, what was the 'secret to the blue back?' (That sounds like the title of an adventure game to me.)

Good luck with that next to the last level. wave

I made it through the 14th level. It only took me 2 days playing a few hours a day. lol But I did it! I got a small feel for level 15. It doesn't seem as hard as level 14, but I'll know definitely tomorrow when I continue.
