cassadaga,
I also have a hard time with games that don't seem logical to me and I don't like wandering around aimlessly, either. I am sure that it is just me, but many of the games, no matter how good they are, seem to have puzzles that don't make any sense. The Nancy Drew games are an example, but there are others. I don't like the repetitive tasks that the ND games require and I think that they are difficult.
When I am playing some of these games, I stare at the screen wondering how in the world someone ever come up with a puzzle like this. If I didn't have the walkthroughs, I would be completely lost. That is why I am so in awe of all of the gamers who know what to do in these puzzles and seem to solve them very easily.
One of the SH games I played had Sherlock picking up pieces of wood that he had found. At some point, he needed to get into the upstairs of a house but couldn't take the stairs. I thought that I might be able to make a ladder(out of the wood that I had collected) and he could climb up to the window. That was what needed to be done. To me, that seemed logical.
However, when a puzzle comes up with no instructions and we are supposed to know what to do, I always get stuck. I often wonder why I like adventure games so much when I am so terrible at playing them
