I just finished playing 'Dracula Origins' and have had the best time with the puzzles that drive the game. I enjoyed each and every one of them having missed this game when it first came out. It is one of the best puzzle games I have found in the 'have to think' catagory.
I also finished 'Art of Murder Hunt for the Puppeteer', which is by far the worst adventure game of all despite the fact that the back-drops were very nicely done.
I puchased both games for $6.99 each from Big Fish, as you probably already know. But I just have to salute them for the ease of download, the affordable prices, and the fact that I can download them later. Also a thanks to Boomers for informing us that Big Fish is there with more than IHOGs.

Glad you enjoyed the game and that you were pleased with BigFish. Both are worth the kudos.

I enjoyed Dracula Origins too. But if you think "Hunt for the Puppeteer" is the worst adventure game, you haven't played very many bad ones.

Yes Jenny100 I agree. I would be interested to see what a '10 Worst Games' list would include. I have a few other games that made me crazy!

I am curious about why you didn't like this game. I liked it and have really enjoyed all of the Art of Murder games. What other games made you crazy when you played them?

Gatsbygirl, I did like the first 'Art of Murder' but 'Puppeteer' drove me crazy searching for the triggers to the next scene. Even with a WT I spent ages to get that 'hairpin' and I went back and forth from the murder scene to the cop at the door so much that I reloaded the game thinking it had a bug only to discover I didn't copy the photos. The game continued on that path. It didn't follow a logical course for me and when Nicole had to go over the wall and the character from the first game magically appears to help her I just felt fried!
'Delaware St. John' (the one at the Carnival) was another wandering around in circles game and 'Dark Fall' (the second one) still has me wondering what that was all about.
'Dracula Origin' followed one complex puzzle to the next one in a logical order. Even 'Rhem' follows one step to the next in a path I can follow even if the puzzles are very hard for me.
On the other hand I've never finished a Sherlock Holmes game; they follow a logic pattern but require spending much of the game finding a ton of clues and crouching and running. Not my forte.

Have you tried Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper?
You might find that one more logical than some of the earlier ones.

cassadaga,

I also have a hard time with games that don't seem logical to me and I don't like wandering around aimlessly, either. I am sure that it is just me, but many of the games, no matter how good they are, seem to have puzzles that don't make any sense. The Nancy Drew games are an example, but there are others. I don't like the repetitive tasks that the ND games require and I think that they are difficult.

When I am playing some of these games, I stare at the screen wondering how in the world someone ever come up with a puzzle like this. If I didn't have the walkthroughs, I would be completely lost. That is why I am so in awe of all of the gamers who know what to do in these puzzles and seem to solve them very easily.

One of the SH games I played had Sherlock picking up pieces of wood that he had found. At some point, he needed to get into the upstairs of a house but couldn't take the stairs. I thought that I might be able to make a ladder(out of the wood that I had collected) and he could climb up to the window. That was what needed to be done. To me, that seemed logical.

However, when a puzzle comes up with no instructions and we are supposed to know what to do, I always get stuck. I often wonder why I like adventure games so much when I am so terrible at playing them smile

Thanks Jenny100. That's one that I've been tempted to try. Now you've added to my interest. I've played 'The Awakened' but it got tedious when I had to collect items and crouch, hide, and run. So I didn't finish.
I almost didn't buy 'Dracula Origin' because it was from Frogwares. I am very happy I did. I still can't get over how totally satisfying that game is to play. Vampires are not my cup of tea. Thank goodness this game doesn't graphically show any vampire dining action.

Oops I got distracted from the computer and double posted.

I do agree 100% with you, and am very happy to discover that it's not us that's terrible at playing some of these games. It's the game.
When the writing is good and the action has been well tested Adventure Games are the best way to spend some 'get away time'.
I also would play ND just for the fun of the 'secret room' that always showed up towards the end of the game. They presented some good puzzles. Now that they are based on 'the proper way to make sandwiches'; I don't bother with them anymore.
