I didn't get to hear him. I think but not sure that the German version has the sound but not the English.
I did see him though.

ok good. Probably not a glitch then. On to the east water area. (Track switching isn't tough).

Well Sandman is dragging me away from the game. But not before I submit this last question. Having a bit of trouble with East water area and the "Triangle with crossed out square" part of the locked door puzzle.

1. I succeeded in getting the red ball.
2. Here are the values I got from the various panels: front-left panel 86 (obtained red ball); numbers on panel under dice picture 28; number combination entered next door 2233.

Now here's the question; I followed your instructions and pressed the back-left and front right buttons near the silo to get the bell/flash combo. Each time I try to enter the given number at left of the locked door (the 1-digit panel), the door won't unlock. I did it over at least 4 times and same result. Help!

To review:

Just to be sure - reset the back right panel first.

Then - You press the back left panel.

Then press the front right panel.

Count how many stones are dropped before you see a flash and sound heard on the back left panel.
Then enter that number on the panel left of the locked door.

Wait a bit and see if the video or audio needs to catch up to the random result before clicking or opening that door.

still nothing. I redid the puzzle over with a whole new set of numbers, just in case (18, 1233). As for the stone counter (back right), it now shows the value --- and no longer resets (because I now have the red ball?). So I did back-left and front right and the bell rang at 8. so I entered 8 next to the locked door. still no good.

I'm not sure about your video/audio instructions. Are you referring to the slight lag I seem to be experiencing between the image of each pebble dropping and its resulting "tic" sound?

EDIT2: Nope. I really don't get it. This time the bell rang on the very first pebble. So entered that value left of locked door. Still no good..... hardwall think insane

Ignore the front left and the right back panel for now.

Redo it over: press the back left panel, then start the dropping with the front right panel.
Count how many stones are dropped before the flash/ding occurs.

I will check if I have a saved game here.

The saved game is sent.

ok. I followed the w/t . Is it consistent with your gameplay?

EDIT: That's got it finally! Fragment 6 obtained.

sorry MaG, but I have a new question for you. I'm afraid I'm not getting the whole repositioning thing in the final portion of the paper roll puzzle. The w/t's explanation somehow isn't clear to me (it's not your writing and I think it's a bit like a decoding cypher puzzle, it's me just not gittin' it d'oh)!. So would you mind providing the answer please? you can just pm it if you want

I want to rearrange the 4xx xxx across from the paper roll display and my random number is 201657.

Thanks

Take a look at the solution at bottom of page or check the picture in the spoiler.
Mordack did a great graphic of how it came about.

Click to reveal..

The transposition code: 1 2 3 4 5 6 position are transposed to 4 6 1 2 3 5.

The last set of number is the code to use.

---------
Your number is 201657.
So enter: 6 7 2 0 1 5

See if that works.

yup that did it. fragment 8 obtained! I can be so lazy sometimes! But there are just certain types of puzzles I'm not good at. At the mere mention of the word slider and I break out in a sweat

ok MaG, next headache. THE GALLERY (ominous music). Three questions :

1. Is the starting order of the buttons from top to bottom 12 3456 78 ?
2. Is the default position 1 or zero when you cycle through them?
3. from the starting point (the buttons), how should I number the portraits?
1 2
3 4
5 6
7 8

Like this?

EDIT! When I first read the w/t, I said to myself "What the devil is a snood?", other than a strange-sounding word.

1. Yes
2. I don't understand why you cycle the buttons.
Are you talking about the differences in the items? If so - that always depends on what you see in the portrait. The items always cycle back to one after 8 differences are reached.
3. No - check the solution of the walkthrough.

I thought cycling through the button made the changes happen in the portraits.

Your question was "Is the default position 1 or zero when you cycle through them?"

I answered on next sentence "Are you talking about the differences in the items? If so - that always depends on what you see in the portrait. The items always cycle back to one after 8 differences are reached.".

There is no default since the items' numbers have different starting numbers.

You click the button the number of times that you need to reach the number required for that item-portrait.

ok. That's a bit clearer now. then I guess my next question would be: If you don't touch the buttons at all the first time you reach the gallery, are the portraits initially the same or are the changes for each portrait randomly generated every time you start the puzzle, forcing us to go look?

I guess what my lazy self is trying to say is: Can I skip the checking part and just use the solution? lol

EDIT: forget what I said above. I think I've figured out the button -pressing thing. Will get back to you.

No - You look at the picture and count the number of the "changing item".
Then find out what the correct number is for that item.
Click the button the appropriate times to get the item to that correct number.
So it is different for each portrait.

Oy! This is going to be eye strain for me :(, but I think I 'm starting to get the picture. Tell me if I'm getting warm.

I follow button 4's copper pipe to the woman with yellowish bonnet/snood/whatever. I notice she has one more ring on her finger each time I press the button. When do I stop pressing? When all fingers have rings??

EDIT: With all due respect to Knut's hard work and all, but this kind of "minutia" puzzle, as I call it, is another kind I have trouble with because of my eyesight

EDIT2: I just realised something. All of the items to look for and change are plural (ringS, stripeS, flowerS, etc). So you cycle through to the maximum number obtained for each item?

This is where the clues you did in door 7 at the 9 door hallway comes in. You got a set of tones in that room with a matching number.

You check each portrait with the device-microphone. You then get a set of tones for that portrait - which based on room 7 clues ; gets you a number for this portrait.

That is the number that you need to hit for that portrait's item change.

FINALLY! Fragment 4 obtained. Now for some Tylenol... Oh the pain, the pain of it all!

EDIT: I think I may have found another reason for my headache. It's from constantly slamming into all of Knut's fetish doors!

Door 1 signal lights: When both lights fade in simultaneously = sunrise? when bottom fades in first then top = sunrise too?

programming panel: Is the top line for door 1 pole and bottom line for door 4 pole?

The top light is separate from bottom light.
So if the top light is light to dark - sunset.
If the bottom is dark to light - sunrise.

If both are light to dark - both are sunset and vice versa.

The door 1 signal lights are part of the puzzle. You do the main puzzle somewhere else. The puzzle is based on what you see here - so write it down.

The panel at the end of the gallery is the main puzzle - enter the sunrise/sunset flashed by the signal light on this panel.

green ring obtained.

I guess Knut is committed now. Hoping he's already working on something else for us smile

I've been meaning to ask (as I am sure many are also curious). Are there any famous people among us?
