Could someone please tell me how to open a Logitech LX5 Cordless Optical Mouse so I can pick out the lint (or whatever it is) that eventually coats the little rollers and goofs up the movement?

I have 3 of them in use, but like to keep them all workable and plugged in their own 'puter.

I have done it many times, but right now my mind is a total blank, and my 'brain' is purely stuck.

People tell me this condition is normal for someone my age (76). especially after whatever it was that had me in the hospital awhile back. As far as I'm concerned that's just hogwash, I've been 45 for 31 years, and plan to stay right there for quite a while.

Generally an optical mouse doesn't require cleaning (short of a blast of compressed air once in awhile).

The old ball type mice had a removable door that allowed you to open them up and clean them.

So where would you blast the air? I can't find any opening but the battery holder.

Do optical mice have rollers? They work with light. No moving parts. Do you mean the scroll wheel?

There's a small hole in the bottom that houses an optical lens. That's about the only place I've ever had to clean them.

InlandAZ, do you suppose it just got overheated? I was using it for hours and hours, and hours, catching up on several days of no access. (my fault)
I'm also working my way thru Peter's Puzzles for the third time, giving him time to to get a whole bunch of new ones. He is sure a busy guy, and so good at all the pleasure he gives us with his games and everything else.

I'll use another one and let this one rest for a couple weeks.

I doubt it overheated, however the USB receiver could have gone bad. I've owned a few Logitech mice and had to replace them because of this.

Try plugging the receiver into another USB port.
