I recently found the walkthrough for Myst III Exile and realized I haven't played it I dont recognize any part of it. I was not happy when I saw it was 95/98. How do I go into compatibility mode to play it? If I do go there will it affect my XP? Any help given is appreciated.

Right click the shortcut (or executable) and peruse to Properties - you'll find the options on the compatibility tab.

No, it will only affect the program you selected.

Right-click the game's exe or the shortcut for the game and choose Properties. Set the compatibility on the compatibility tab and OK it.

Setting compatibility only affects the game, not the rest of XP.

Be sure to install somewhere other than the C:\Program Files folder. XP SP2 and higher may prevent games from working right if they're installed in C:\Program Files because Microsoft increased security so much in SP2.

It will run from the My Documents folder, there should be an option to override the default location when you run the installer.

You can run the setup in compatibility mode, but generally all that's required is to set the option after it's installed.
