What a great game. I would even go as far as to say one of the best games I've played in my 20 years of gaming. Great story line, good acting, logical puzzles, nice graphics. I can't find a minus point, for me this is 10 out of 10. Well done Deep Silver, love the cursor which shows if you should use the left or right button or both on the mouse. A bit like some films it does not matter what nationality you are you always speak english even when talking to your comrades

I loved the game. It was great, light-hearted fun and I am SO glad I have it on disk. (Mine! Mine! It will never disappear on me!) I do have a few quibbles, though, and they're mostly to do with the graphics.
The developers of Black Mirror 2 were wise, I think, to forego close-ups of the characters because 3D technology just hasn't come far enough yet. The close-ups of Fenton, Kim and the Countess, to name three, weren't really very good. They looked more like wax mannequins, though at middle distance and far away, the characters all looked great and I liked the little inset pictures, too.
Richard's 'ghost'. Well, that was really the down point of the graphics for me. IMO, it would have been much better and more effective to show him as a greyed-out, semi-transparent, fully realized image than to use that jumpy, white line-drawing. I wonder why they didn't.
The voice acting was super good. Everyone really acted their parts rather than just reading them. And I totally enjoyed the humor in the game. So it's not deep, it was a great romp and I am so ready for another adventure with Fenton Paddock!

Random thoughts - I just love the action sequence where he jumps off the cliffs and into the truck, then causes an avalanche! It's so Indiana Jones!! - Those jumbled-up wires gave me a headache tracing the darn things! I was over-confident and said, yeah give me a challenge! Then regretted it immediately when I saw the mess. Tried looking for a Back button so I could choose the easier option, but no luck, had to trace them all one by one. - The bazaar scene in Marrakesh is beautiful! Took a screenshot and it's now my desktop background. - The quivering goat LOL! Glad to see nothing happened to it! - The last 'romantic' scene was anything but. Kinda disappointing in that sense. It would've worked better if it was rendered as a video cutscene with better action - So which fight approach did you end up choosing? I initially chose aggressive - and kept expecting the countess to get up from under the boxes to interrupt Kim & Fenton's romantic scene. It was only in the bonus features, after trying out other fight approaches, that I realized I should've gone for the retreat! It had a more definite conclusion and nobody would expect the countess to come crawling out of that!

Omigosh, you reminded me, DanceWarrior! Where are those screenshots? The manual says they're in the game file but I can't find them. They're not in My Documents, that's for sure.
I loved the scene of the lagoon in India. (And yes, I was really relieved that the goat didn't end up as the tiger's dinner. <g>)
As I recall, I started with an aggressive approach in the fight but eventually chose retreat. I thought I had made one whopper of a mistake for a minute but evidently I didn't since Kim made short work of the countess. <g> Think I'll have to go back and play with the fight scenes in the bonus section to see how things change when you make different choices.

Btw, not being as intrepid as you, DanceWarrior, I chose the easier course on the wires and had to trace each one of them, too. Maybe it was less of a mess than you had to deal with. <g>

DanceWarrior, the problem is, I did use the Print Screen button. "Screenshot saved", it said, or something like that. I'll go hunt again.
Ah, the manual! (gloating) Forty three pages one way, ending with a lovely drawing of the Countess von Hagenhild and her German Shepherd Dog (teeth bared...I love GSDs), warning you to go no further if you want to solve the puzzles in the first part of the book on your own. Flip the manual and you see a cover labeled "Top Secret" and inside a drawing of Fenton who's warning you that this is his diary, in which he provides precise documentation of the first few hours of his adventure. (Did I mention that I was gloating?) Erm...maybe I shouldn't have told you about that part.
I didn't read his diary. Honest. Really. Would I lie to you? Seriously, I didn't. <g>

oldmariner,
On page 27 of the manual (which you have, I think), it says that F5 saves a screenshot of the current scene to the installation directory. Nope.
The game is supposed to be compatible with Win 7 so this version of Windows shouldn't have anything to do with the screenshots not being anywhere to be found, but what does?
Hang on, should I Pause the game before taking a screenshot? (You can see how much I know.)

Yes pause then hold down the control key while pressing the printscreen key. Then open your art program. I have paint shop pro, under edit select paste. Whatever is saved in memory will show up as a photo in the art program then just save it.
I just checked if you don't have an art program it will also work the same way in the default program Microsoft Paint. That comes with windows, Start/Programs/Accessories/Paint
That works to capture whatever is on your screen not just for games.

Thanks, oldmariner! I opened PSP 9 before I started the game, chose a preset size window then just hit the print screen key and pasted into PSP. Worked fine! Got a very nice shot of the lagoon.

Just finished playing for the 2nd time and loved it just as much. If you keep a promise you get an extra bonus. If you use a different dialogue in the night club you get a different puzzle to solve. Does the lip synce work if you are speaking German?

DanceWarrior, I know what you mean about the wires. I did the exact same thing. As for my fight approach, I kept choosing aggressive, but I would save before I made my decision each time, thinking there was a "right" choice. I should have known better. Will have to try the other choices out at some point. Old lady, can I have a hint as to which chapter that takes place in, please? Obviously, I didn't complete as much as I thought I did. Traveler, that lagoon scene was beautiful! I saved it as one of my screenshots. I also loved the icy cavern and the oasis in the desert. As for myself, I enjoyed this game very much, and it made it into my top twenty at number 14. Beautiful graphics, addictive storyline, likable main characters, great voice acting, fun puzzles, what's not to love? The only real "complaint" I have is that I don't think Kim got enough playable time for as much as she was billed as a co-star. I was thinking that Fenton and Kim would have been much more of a team, as Nina and Max were in the Secret Files games. Don't get me wrong, I really liked playing as Fenton, and I enjoyed his character quite a bit! One of my favorite aspects of the Secret Files games, however, was the teamwork between the two main characters, which we saw very little of in this game. In spite of that, however, I felt that this was stronger than the Secret Files games, and I believe this team just keeps getting better. Really looking forward to their next game.

"I know what you mean about the wires. I did the exact same thing."
Lol! As I was able to play from a saved game, I went back and chose the more difficult plate of spaghetti. Took one look at that mess and closed out! It's the same thing as the easier version, just fewer wires and fatter ones on easy.
"I was thinking that Fenton and Kim would have been much more of a team, as Nina and Max were in the Secret Files games."
Truthfully, I wasn't much taken with Kim, probably because she didn't have much to do but rag at Fenton. I did enjoy the teamwork (?) between Fenton and Richard, watching how what Richard did in the past affected what Fenton could do in the present, so I see what you mean.
As for the hint you want, I'm thinking that oldlady is referring to someone in the alley.
The tiger swamp was lovely, too.

Traveler, working from a saved game was probably the wiser choice. Actually, I liked Kim, and I understood why she was always "ragging" Fenton. From what I understood, they were in a relationship, and he just left after that fiasco with no explanation. That would make me a bit snippy as well. I really liked Fenton, too, of course, and I realize why he did what he did. I just appreciated the two opposing yet understandable points of view. Yes, I really liked the section with Fenton and Richard as well. Thanks for the hint. I'll keep it in mind when I go back for a replay, which I'm sure I will sometime in the future. Yes, the tiger swamp was lovely! This game was filled with nothing but beautiful screenshots.

I too had to go back to a saved game having tried the difficult wire game. If you borrow something and promise to return it you should keep your promise. I liked the interaction between Richard and Fenton. Fenton finds the problem and Richard solves it. Great fum and very logical, Do we have anyone who knows about British military uniform? I only ask because Richards uniform jacket has chevrons on it. I thought officers, which Richard must be because he went to Sandhurst, wore rings on the cuffs and pips on the sholder to donate their rank. Yes I would have liked to see more of Kim, I do like women who refuse to go and sit in a village while the action takes place.

How many bonuses did you have, old lady? I had 3: the puzzle, the chance to do the fight over again and the chance to play the original start to the game. I know very little about military uniforms of any kind but I thought those chevrons were a little strange, too. Aren't chevrons only worn by non-coms...and weren't the ones on Richard's sleeve upside down? (Now watch me be wrong.) Something else interesting was the insignia on the banners at the Brandenburg Gate and, I think, at the Olympic stadium. They were crosses. Frankly, if I'd been Kim and frozen stiff after having hung upside down in a wrecked plane for hours, I'd have climbed into that nice, warm truck with Thomas. <g> A lot of good it did her to go with Fenton! But she did turn out to be the fighter. I replayed the fight once and this time, instead of (oh, I'll be nice and hide it) tossing the Countess off the bridge into the lava, she shot her! I didn't expect that! Gil.

In germany it is forbidden to show nazi-symbols, like the swastika, in games. It is even difficult and can become a problem, if you show a crossed out swastika (meaning: i'm against nazis). People and law courts are very sensible about it. I loved the game, but i didn't like the way Kim was behaving. She could have been a much more interesting character, but the game designer decided to make her a pain in the neck.
