I joined the website and downloaded a game. I followed their instructions in their email for downloading. It downloaded to the folder that I specified, but It would not open. It always requested that a disk be inserted. There wasn't any spaces to enter the activation code. I gave up and unsubscribed from their website. I won't be using their website to download anything.

Hi, Bohiker

Did the page show you you needed to download 1 and 2 etc etc...For the game...

You have to x out where it ask for a disk...Follow through with the 1st download then the second..Make sure you download to the same area each time...

I always save to my documents...I never had a problem with their site....You just have to follow directions...

Darleen is right. You need to find out what's wrong and fix it. Otherwise you just threw your money away.

If it requests a disk, what it's probably really looking for is information it can't locate, which may be in a file you haven't downloaded yet.

Thank you for your replies. I downloaded an inexpensive game to see if the download would work. My thoughts about this is that I have downloaded many free apps, unzipped the file and clicked on run, and they run without a glitch. Here is a website that you pay for the program and it will not run. (Everything) that is required to run the program should be included in the download, and not have to go back for additional downloads to run it. The download and "run" should be user friendly if they expect the customer to come back for more.

You never said which game you were having trouble with or how large the game is.

If the download for a game is large, it is often broken up into separate downloads in case a re-download is necessary. Would you rather download a 4 GB file all over again or one of four 1 GB files?

You are correct on all the points that you made. The game is "The Longest Journey" and is a large file. (1150MB) When the window said "setup needs the next disk", and "please insert disk 1 and click ok".,since I did not have a disk, they lost me. Their website info did not say how many disks needed to be downloaded. Perhaps in my case if they said "Now (download), instead of (insert), disk 1 of --, it might have been less confusing. Thank you for the information. I now have a better understanding of how a large file is downloaded.

I also have downloaded a game from Adventure Shop and installed it and it won't work.
The game is Lost Horizon and Adventure Shop is very, very slow with help in solving the problem.
First I played the game for an hour, closed it but it would go to black screen when I tried to play again.
I deleted the game, reinstalled it and got a screen asking for the disk.
I deleted and reinstalled again, and now it just goes to black screen when I try to play it
I've downloaded Post Mortem from Adventure Shop without any problem, but without their current download manager.
I've also downloaded from GOG, Steam, and Big Fish with no problems.
I just can't figure out the problem with Lost Horizon.
Please if anyone can help solve my problem I would really appreciate it! Lost Horizons is getting great reviews from Boomers and I'm anxious to play.

Cassadaga,
Make sure your computer has at least 256 MB of video memory.
Other than that, the game's requirements ***listed at Adventure Shop*** are fairly low.

Not having enough video memory could result in a black screen. It should also probably also be "discrete memory" and not system memory that is shared with the rest of the computer.

Thanks Jenny100 for your help.
I do have 256 MB of video memory, however my computer is old (circa 2003) and has been upgraded to the max.
The demo for 'Lost Horizons' ran fine as did 'Puritas Cordis' that I downloaded from Steam.
I just got an email from The Adventure Company stating they cannot help with the problem, so I'm very frustrated.
Usually when I run into a problem it turns out that I didn't do something right, but this one has really got me stumped.
Where do I find "discrete memory". As a rule I delete one game before I install another, but I did download 'Drawn' to play while I was trying to find a fix for 'Lost Horizon' and 'Drawn' played fine.

Short of entering the BIOS setup at boot up and peeking, there's no real way to know (at least that I've ever seen).

I might help to know the specific graphics processor on the PC though. Start DXDiag and post the information on the Display Tab (in the Device section).

To run DXDiag - Click Start, Run (or press the Windows Logo Key+R) enter DXDiag and press Ok.

Hi InlandAZ, Do you mean my Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.66GHz, or NVidia GeForce 7600 GS. I'm a bit thick when it comes to computers.
I think this is what I should post: DAC Type: Integrated RAMDAC
Chip Type GEForce 7600GSS
Approx. Total Memory 512.0MB
Current Display 1360x768 (32 bit)(60Hz)
Monitor: Plug and Play

I think most of the problem is you are not downloading the Full Bin files...

You will get an E:mail with Bin files that have to be downloaded to the same folder..

I am downloading ..Lost Horizon now ..which is a lond download... I also am using their software informer which is a big help...You have to download all the Bin files to one folder....It does take a long time...

The 7600GS is what I wanted to see - You've got plenty of memory (all discrete) on the card to support the game. The BIOS option will only be available for integrated video processors, yours is an add-on card.

You seem to meet the system requirements -

System Requirements:
Operating System : Microsoft Windows 7 / Vista / XP
Processor : Intel Pentium IV at 2.0 GHz / AMD Athlon XP 2200+
Video Card : 128 MB VRAM – NVIDIA GeForce 5400 / ATI Radeon 9600
Memory : 512 MB RAM (XP) / 1 GB RAM (Vista / Win 7)
Hard Disk : 4.5 GB of free Hard Drive space
Sound Card: DirectX Compatible
Direct X : 9.0c
Controls : Keyboard & Mouse
Installation : DVD-ROM Drive

Is your video driver up to date? You can locate the most recent below - just plug in your OS and card model.

NVIDIA Driver Downloads

Your current resolution is a widescreen format (1360x768) does the game support that natively? If not, updating your drivers may help.

Edit -

Also, if the game wanted to update DirectX - allow it to install.
