If it's indeed a DVD+RW and not a DVD-R then it means you can re-write on it and thus you can use it various times. Additionally the capacity of the two formats is different, a CD can hold 700MB of data whereas a DVD/DVD+RW can hold 4.7 GB which is approximately 4800 MB. It depends on the size of the software, if it can fit on the CD there is no need to use the Rewritable.

One thing about DVD+RW discs is you can format them. Then you can just drag and drop files, just like a hard drive, no burner software required, no prioetary file formats. More expensive in the short end, but depending on your needs, worth it the long run.

Albert I didn't know that Albert. How do you go about formatting one?

Albert I didn't know that Albert. How do you go about formatting one? Vista and above - Format a CD or DVDUnder XP you can just right click the drive icon and peruse to "erase this disc" or use a software package like Nero.
