This is just not my week for successful downloads.
On my laptop - whichg does not take DVD's - I downloaded the game using my sons thingy that lets you transfer dvds to regular pcs. (Never had a problem with downloading games before with this adapter-thing).
It downloaded, I clicked on icon on my desktop & shows the options on left side, music, scenery in the background & a box saying yes or not to click on if DVD is inserted in the computer. Of course I click "yes" & nothing happens. I click on (left side options list) "new Game" & nothing happens.
Can you possibly tell me why I cannot get this game to run? Does it need a patch or something?

I don't really know what kind of "thingy" you're talking about. Is it an external DVD drive that plugs into your laptop's USB slot? Or are you transferring the contents of the game disc over your network connection?

You may be being blocked by the game's copy "protection." In that case, a No-DVD might help. Google for

"chronicles of mystery" "tree of life" nocd

It's also possible your laptop's graphics don't meet the game's requirements.
You need an Nvidia GeForce or ATI Radeon card that is DirectX 9 compatible
and has 64 MB of discrete video RAM (not shared).

Yes, it's an external DVD drive that plugs into my laptop's USB slot.
As i said previously, I never had any trouble before transfering a DVD onto my PC laptop before this.

If it's failing the disc check, the nocd/no-dvd should work. Unfortunately copy "protections" like this prevent more legitimate buyers from playing the game than they prevent game pirates.
