Hi All,

I just got this new laptop--supposedly tricked out for games--and got the p**p scared out of me when I had the worst computer crash since I tried to play Riven with 4mb of RAM in '94 or '95.
It happened when I, as the doctor, walked back into the hospital foyer after my first patient interview. Crashed right past the desktop all the way to an insisted chkdsk and forced reboot.
Now, I'm afraid to even run it again until I get some kind of knowlegable assistance.
If someone can help me, please be explicit with any directions. My computer skills are limited.
Thanks hugely and humbly.

ASUS Laptop G73JW Series
Intel Core i7 CPU Q740 @1.73GHz
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Operating System
RAM 8GB
2 500GB Harddrives
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460m with 1.5 GB dedicated memory
NVIDIA and Realtek High Definition Audio

I'm sorry no one has answered your problem yet.
I can't tell if the problem is with the game or whether there is something wrong with the laptop. If the fans aren't running and cooling the laptop as they should during a game, it may shut down to avoid overheating. Or a problem with the video drivers could cause problems such as a shutdown.

It's normal for Windows to insist on a chkdsk if it was not shut down "properly." That's how Windows checks for file damage.

Have you checked for video driver updates or are you using the same drivers that came with the computer?

Have you played any other games on the laptop or is this the first one? If the fans aren't working properly, any game or any other program that causes the laptop to heat up inside has the potential to cause it to shut down.
