RealMyst from GOG won't work on my Windows 7 either.

Good question - My 32-bit Win 7 Release Candidate drive which will run for a couple of hours at a time is still operational. I'll check.

Very interesting, Marian, but holy cow! And, no it didn't work on the 32-bit Win 7 either.

EUREKA! I found this post on the GOG forums and it worked... Thank you to jaelkthompson at the GOG forums for posting it. None of it worked until I changed the video card settings to Direct 3D HAL. The default was T & HAL. Jenny100 or Inland may know what that means - I don't. He said it will work for XP too. A copy and paste from the post:
Go to the Start menu and navigate to the realMyst program file, right click, choose "Properties" and click the tab "Compatibility". Under Compatibility mode, check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for", and change the drop down menu to "Windows XP (Service Pack 3). Under Settings, check "Disable visual themes". Under Privilege Level, check the box "Run this program as an administrator". Once these settings have been applied, click "Apply" and "OK" to exit. Then, go back to the Start menu and run the Setup for realMyst, and make sure that the settings are as follows: *3D Hardware, choose "Direct 3D", and change the drop down menu to the Direct 3D HAL setting for your graphic card

Hopefully that fix will work on other computers. HAL is Hardware Abstraction Layer, and you can read about it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hardware_abstraction_layerMaybe the Direct3D T&L HAL is supposed to look better or something so they make that the default instead of Direct3D HAL (without the T&L). I found the GOG thread ***here***.
