Hey all. smile

I recently purchased a copy of the Agatha Christie Triple Murder Mystery pack. I played the wonderful Murder On the Orient Express already and loved it.

I excitedly installed Evil Under the Sun. Everything seems to go well until one of the movie sequences tries to play.

The screen flickers for a second to black and goes back to the gameplay screen.

I've tried reducing DirectX acceleration to no avail. Video card drivers are the latest version.

Anyone have any ideas? Would really be appreciated!

ETA: I already tried applying the patch from the Adventure Company website. It doesn't work with this version of the game though.

Here's my specs.

Windows XP SP3 32 bit
AMD-64 2650e 1.6 GHz
2GB DDR RAM
nVidia GeForce 6150e nForce 430 with 128 MB VRAM
DirectX 9.0c

You didn't say what the date of your video drivers is, but you could try using older drivers. "The latest drivers" are usually made with new, high end cards in mind and the 6150e is both old and low end.

Hi Jenny. Thank you for your prompt reply. smile

I think I may have found the problem. Not a hardware issue at all as I originally suspected. Sorry for jumping the gun.

After following a few leads, I took a look at EUtS' CAB data file on the DVD. Looks like the movie files are actually outright missing from this version of the game! Or at least they are missing from my particular copy of the Triple Murder Mystery Pack.

Looks like I'm off to buy a normal boxed edition of this game. Ah well. It'll be worth it. thumbsUp12

I had exactly the same problem with the AC triple murder pack.

When Big Fish offered Evil Under the Sun, I bought it and the game played perfectly. Either they did something that fixed the problem I was having or whoever puts those multi-game deals together does something to cause the problem. Anyway, it's put me off those multi-game packs.

Gil.

Good to know. I wonder if every Agatha Christie Triple pack has this problem or if only some of them do. If all of them do, the publisher should offer the missing video files as a patch.
