My daughter got a computer from her mother-in-law that was purchased in August 2009 with Vista. Is there some way to upgrade to W7 for free? Thanks

If I remember correctly, there was a fairly short window of opportunity for the free upgrades to Vista computers. I would go to the website of the computer manufacturer and check there to be sure. That's what I had to do to help a friend with a free upgrade. But I think it had to be done by the official release date of Win 7 which was October 2009.
