I'm sure someone here has played this game and have a couple of questions about it. I recently re-installed it after many years. It would always CTD on me when I originally got it so never finished it.

I'm in chapter 2 playing as a Ranger/9/Rogue/1 and having a lot of fun with it, however it seems that Shanya is the only henchman I can use right now. I've been to all the areas in chapter 2, and can't find any other henchmen anywhere. Not that I dislike Shanya, but I would prefer to use someone different. Am I forced to use Shanya in chapter 2, or do I need to get further along in the game in order to find another one?

Also I have been using a normal +2 shortbow, but just found a new one called an Eaglebow, which is worth considerably more if I wanted to sell it, however the stats for it are exactly the same as the +2 shortbow. Could someone tell me why? I'm not very familiar with D&D rules so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi ya Olgeezer,

This is in my "I have it but haven't played it pile."

However, This Website has a list of henchmen and where you meet them and what you must do. I don't see Shanya on that list though.

It also has lists of weapons. Looking at the Eaglebow on that site, does the one you are using have the same special properties as the Eaglebow? For instance, the Eaglebow has a +3 to attack, a +2 to your search ablility, and a +2 to your spot.

luck

Thx Looney. I'm bad. Her name is Sharwyn, not Shanya.

As to the bow, no it's not +3 to attack it's +2, with no other special properties. Could be there's several types of this bow and I found the lesser one.

The game is very addictive as you want to keep getting stronger, so you don't die as often haha.

Anyway you should give it a shot. Even for such an old game, the graphics hold up fairly well, (there's some cool spell effects), and although I find the UI somewhat tedious, it is intuitive and easy to understand.

It's just all those [blip] numbers that have me confused.

I did start it a while back and really liked it, but then I think I got side traced by some newer games and then by WoW.

Here is the info from that same site about the Eaglebow.

I wonder if all the attributes don't show on the tooltip?

I was wondering if the +2 bow you were using had those attributes which the Eaglebow is supposed to have. If not, that's why you can sell the Eagle one for so much more. But I'd use it. lol

OMG I'm an idiot! I didn't scroll down far enough in the description of it.

Ah, makes me feel better about it now, especially seeing as I just took a level in Rogue and those extra points in search and spot are going to help a lot.

Thank you for making me see the error in my ways!

Nope not an idiot.

These games are complicated and it takes awhile to learn all the ins and outs of it.

I'm glad you kept it. wave

Oldgeezer,

I'm right in the middle of Chapter 2, playing a Bard with a few levels of Rogue - a very enjoyable character. My companion of choice for most areas is Grimgnaw. That makes for a nicely balanced duo.

If you advanced all of your henchmen's quests in Chapter One, they should all be available in Chapter 2, at the Barracks where you emerge. They should all just be standing around waiting for you.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.
