SO, I have decided to backtrack and play some "old" games I never had a chance to play. Went on GOG games and got the first 2 Tex Murphy games (at a very good price!) I started to play and the graphics are very blurry on my windows XP Dell studio. It gives me several video settings to choose from.Which one would be best on my "new" laptop? here are the choices.

VGA/MCGA 320x200 256 color
EGA 320x200 16 color
Tandy 320x200 16 color
CGA 320x200 4 color
Hercules 720x348 mono

I am not so great at "techie"stuff so I am confused. I have tried different ones but my graphics are blurry and weirdly colored. I know the game is mega old so its to be expected. But a litle advice would be greatly appreciated!! If I can get through these 2 I will download the next ones. Already did Broken Sword trilogy( which I loved), and am looking into the Gabriel Knight series and maybe Dark Fall series and Still Life ones too. I never got to play them when they came out. Any of them worth it?

Please and thanks as always!!

Short answer...Yes, very much so.

It will help the moderators here if they know what your computer specs are - especially what your video card is.

You want to use the VGA setting - all in the series (Tex Murphy) will appear distorted when played in full screen mode.

Your best bet is to play them in a window, although some find the native screen size too small.

Thank you I will try that . I am finding the game interface very confusing and hard to use. The game is so old-school!! But I will plug on I have

new Dell Studio 1737
3GB onboard intel core duo graphics
32 bit op system
running vista

looking into other games as well GOG has quite a few to choose from. I think I may be better off with the newer Tex games. The graphics and interface may be easier to use.

Thanks for help!

Ah, the game controls. Yes, they do take some getting used to, even the last several Tex Murphy games. They're well worth playing though.
