Running with VDMSound. Works fine, except the game crashes when Holmes produces the key to the guard outside Mycroft's apartment.
Any advice or perhaps a savegame?

I haven't been able to source any saves for this one, so I'll move you across to Glitches for advice.

What operating system are you using?
If you have XP, you could try reducing audio acceleration.

I've tried using CPUkiller to slow down the computer in general but it doesn't help. Maybe I should try your advice as well if I just can remember how to do it. :-) But remember - I'm using VDM Sound so I think the sound is taken care of?

Ahh, I managed to overcome the crashing point by turning of all the option alternatives inte game menu. Now I can turn them on again and continue. Anyway, thanks for your efforts in helping.

Support for VDMSound was discontinued years ago and ported to DOSBox. I've played the game without issue under DOSBox, give it a try.
