So far this looks like a great game. The developer is Nikitova Games, who also did Deadtime Stories. Voiceovers, good graphics, and an interesting storyline. wave

Wonderful, Ana! And I now see that you did the walkthrough! thumbsup

I haven't read any of the books that this game is based upon but will probably end up doing so now. smile

It's also based on the TV series TRue Blood on HBO. My hubby loves that show, I am not a fan, but I do think they did an excellent job on making a game series out of it.

I'm a big Charlaine Harris fan. But not so much her vampire stories as her Southern mysteries. Not sure about this game yet. A bit cheesy, IMO.
ETA: Have to admit though that the game seems to be well done. Nice graphics and good voice acting (except for the chick with the "Southern" accent). HO scenes are challenging and Hint recharge is a bit slow, but not frustratingly so. Maybe I've just become accustomed to the darker sort of games. This one takes an interesting turn in that it involves a dark subject, but has plenty of humor.

Game Designer and Creative Director is....JANE JENSEN! Wow, and the Scarlet Furies music is in this game also. Very entertaining, beautifully done casual game. Bravo.

I don't care for this post modern trend of trying to make heroes out of vampires (or any other evil). And have no interest in the series this game is related to.

I was so sick of the ordinary IHOG's (I felt right with you when you said in another post, Ana, that you randomly clicked just to get them over with)...wasn't going to try this, but sure am glad I did, even if I almost screamed when it said "shortly"..."to be continued"!

Like Sparkle, I'm not thrilled with Harris' vampire stuff and prefer her mysteries, but I totally love Jane Jensen, and this game is so much in her style.

I bought it halfway through the demo and am having a great time! So much humor that it makes up for the fact that vampires are so overdone right now.

Absolutely, it's cheesy, but it's also hilarious and entertaining, with great characters!

PS Does anyone know the name of the song that's used for the theme, or the artist? It's now stuck in my head!

I've just played part of the demo and loved it. Had to check the credits and there was Jane Jensen. Now I know why it had this familiar feeling to it -- Gabriel Knight. Is the lead character a female Gabriel Knight?

This has the makings of a great game. I'm not into Vampires and could not watch True Blood. But this appears to a humorous take on it all. The quirky side of the Gabriel Knight games appears to be peaking out all over.

Hope my thoughts on the humorous hold out throughout the rest of the game because it is a buy for me.

Cynder, someone on the Big Fish forums said that the theme tune is called "Young Goodman Brown" and that the name of the band is Scarlet Furies. This band has a website online. smile

Young Goodman Brown? Like in the Nathaniel Hawthorne story? Oh, how perfect. Thanks, Marian. I must check this band out!

PS Yes, indeed! It is the Scarlet Furies and the song, with the vocals by Raleigh Holmes, who could have starred in it as well. She's perfectly folksy Gothic. Hawthorne would have loved her!

I don't like playing vampires normally, but she is a lady and doesn't gross me out like other vampire games. I found this to have Fantastic Graphics, Voiceovers, storyline, mini games, map, the map is actually fun to use no more having to walk back and forth. The voices were the best I have ever heard. I love that when you click on a character they may have more to say.

I love the Hidden objects actually kept with the theme of the story. I loved the mini games no 2 are alike but also a fast skip if needed. I loved the song. i loved the music in the entire game never the same fit the scenes. The Blood bank and motel scene was funny. The sense of humor she has is one of my favorite parts of the game. I wish I was born with the woman who did her voice.

I loved the manaquin and having to dress it up for certain scenes choosing what to wear one of my favorite parts of the game. I love the main character she has a beautiful voice and her personality fits her. I love the episodes the way they are divided and the narrator reminds us where we left off. I love the animation of the game. I would give this 10 stars if I could. I loved the hints so we never get stuck and have a choice which task to ask for help with. There is nothing about this game I don't love. All games should be this fun.

This beat 13 skulls, dire, sherlock holmes, every game I have played thus far in my opinion. Perfect balance between HOGS and interactive. i love the non linear feel to it not being forced to finish a task before doing another one.

I loved the graveyard scene and not just walking into it but added something special to use. The comments the main character says is so funny, and if you keep clicking she may say more. The only thing I didn't love was to have it end.

Oh please game producers hurry and continue this and I hope you will make a series of games with her. I will buy each one if it remains as good as this one. Highly recommend the game, there was no occult stuff to offend me, like drawing pentagrams ect.

The tour guide voice is dreadful, unlike the local minor character voices from the first GK which were superbly regional, particularly the one that sounded like New Jersey but in reality was a local New Orleans accent from various areas of the city, notably the Irish Channel and Chalmette.

Other than that and the lamentable journal proof reading, this game gets high marks from me.

In Dying for Daylight someone paid attention to the HOG scene objects: the Cirque Terrible props like the scepters and crowns do look like Mardi Gras court regalia. Publicity for the city is a good thing. I've always thought that a GK back in New Orleans would have been both helpful and entertaining.

This is a good one, better than Grey Matter or Deadtime Stories or Ravenhurst or Dire Grove and so on ad infinitem. I'm at the beginning of the second episode now and thus far am in 100% agreement with Sherryah despite the fact that I not a fan of the tv show and find the books no more than passable.

(Postscript: I grew up in New Orleans. I no longer live there but visit on occasion. I never shop at Dead, Dormant, and Beyond because there isn't one.)

spot on with your reviews!
Just finished, bought w/o trial, nor any foreknowledge of either the author nor anything attributable to her.
My only query at this pint, is how long are we gonna have to wait for the next installments??? cry

Well, I went ahead and got this one with my Game Club credit. Have to admit, my initial reaction to it was prematurely negative. Nice game. A humorous take on the standard vampire story.

ETA: Be sure to Google "Scarlet Furies", the group that does the main theme music for this game. They also did music for "Gray Matter". How cool is that?

"That'll do." Good game. Funny to find homage to Babe. I laughed.

Now I'm wondering when the next episodes will roll out. Grey Matter took a decade or so; however, BFG seems to have a schedule that demands work as speedy as old Hollywood serials so I remain optimistic.

Jensen sure saw where the market was going early on with those logic puzzle casual games. Can't compare with this one though. While Dahlia isn't quite as intriguing as Gabe, she might get there.

Sequels have a way of improving in adventure games, rather the opposite of most novels. I hope the team keeps up the high standards of New Orleans sequences; Memphis is a bit of a let down, then Charleston brings the level up again to close to the opening. I'd like a fewer HOG scenes.

Hmmm, from the reaction we are having to the sequel, maybe this should go from "Dying for Daylight--Part 1-4" to "Dying for Dahlia--Part 2."

A lot of us were huge fans of Gabriel Knight, but Dahlia is a really good second. smile

PS Oh, and for the curious--Robert Holmes, who did the music for Gray Matter and Gabriel Knight as well as this one, is also a member of Scarlet Furies, the band that is fronted by his daughter, Raleigh, whose stepmother is----yep, Jane Jensen!

And you think Dahlia has a history!
