I downloaded the patch HBS_patch02_US.exe. When I double click it says: The Hardy Boys - The Hidden Theft(US) is not properly installed.

I installed it again (using the setup default path) without problems, but the error message stays.
Is there maybe a European version of this game that isn't patched? How can I see if I have the US version?
Any ideas?

If there's a European version that's different from the US version, it may already be patched. The only patches I can find are for the US version. ***Mobygames*** lists European releases seven months later than the North American release.

Don't use autorun to install it. Be sure to right-click the Setup file and choose to "Run As Administrator" even if you're logged into an account with Administrative privileges. Also make sure it does NOT install into C:\Program Files. The game is so poorly made that it wouldn't surprise me if it didn't install properly on many computers.

I don't have autorun turned on (games with multiple cd's sometimes try to start the game again if you insert the next cd). And the first install was not in Program Files, so I'm afraid this is one of the computers it doesn't like.
